The PuigTec EQP1A plugin is molded after the Pultec EQ. Considered the “Magic” piece of gear in the studio. It rightfully owns that name as it makes pretty much everything sound good or better just by putting sound through it. So we can call the plugin the "Magic" plugin.

Bro you really are dope can’t thank you enough. definitely still waiting on that tracking template video and maybe a video on adlibs, mess with stereo imaging and panning the backing vocals 🤞🏾

Thanks. I’m actually going to record that video tomorrow. Finally freed up my schedule. I have my “How I Mixed This Song” videos where I breakdown what I do. The Rap Song I mix it from beginning to end. My newest video “Ear Candy I Used in T Pain by Chizzy Stephens” I show some tricks I did with backgrounds and adlibs.

Hey just posted up a new video showing my recording chain for tracking. It is not necessarily a template and I explain in the video about that. here is the link kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ibR-htV7sK2zYGg.html

Thanks for demo. I have limited budget, and thinking between Puig Tec vs API Eq.. which is ok to keep, like a go to for all tracks.
@MattMontanez
@MattMontanez 2 жыл бұрын
I would say the API is a little more versatile and has a better sound if it’s the only eq you can use as a go to. Both are good plugins though.

Interesting.. Is Waves the cheapest Pultec EQ vst? (good/useable)? Thanks
@MattMontanez
@MattMontanez 2 жыл бұрын
There are free ones out there. I’ve personally used the Sonimus SonEQ for a bit even after I bought the waves PuigTec. It’s a good plugin really good actually I just forgot about it as it’s not the first EQ I reached for much and reinstalling everything when switching systems was just easier to load up one installer than searching for more plugin and installers that essentially do the same thing. I’ll probably load it up this weekend would be a nice change

you should gainstage before using vintage modeled plugins...
@MattMontanez
@MattMontanez 6 жыл бұрын
Can you elaborate a little more as why you should gain stage before going through a vintage modeled plugin? Because my answer would be Yes and no. More of a preference how the engineer mixes. Yes gain staging is very important to do especially if things are extremely quiet or too loud so it does help to get them more even but no because then you lose the actual sound and color of the plugin. Just because it’s in the red it doesn’t mean it’s bad and you need to pull everything back. CLA says it himself and most of his levels running through vintage plugins are in the red.

@@MattMontanez because analog plugins work best when gain staged to -18 db...Higher or lower can get un warrented results!...Peace..
@MattMontanez
@MattMontanez 3 жыл бұрын
That is not always true as every company has a threshold where their emulation sits better at. And they tend to change by which piece of hardware they are emulating. Even certain plugins run differently as they are emulated to be non linear so you can’t say gain stage to -18 and it’s where analog emulation plugins work best. It doesn’t work that way unfortunately.
@deesteve4156
@deesteve4156 3 жыл бұрын
@@MattMontanez why do think almost EVERY Vu Meter is set to -18db, because that is considered the sweet spot for analog equipment and their emulations, putting a trim plug-in before any effects to -18 db , THEN mixing to what ever VOLUME on faders u would like is how it's done , pro tools make this easy and standard in any pro mix session , recently learned this in school , u may not grasp what I'm saying , it's rather complicated for no reason ..
