I still don't understand how to count whistles when using a pressure cooker. In many recipes the chefs say to cook things for a certain number of whistles. But I don't understand what they mean by it.

@kathiburg2001swtxtc you can braise it in the pot then add your veggies,water or stock cover then let the knuckle(thing on top) make noise and smell the deliciousness until it is done.

So my weight was not giggling just steam coming out turned it way down, now its giggling. If there is no steam and no jiggle turn it up. The manual was not very helpful with that subject. I am wondering if you can add a gauge to these pots?

can you cook meat in a pressure cooker

If you use a pressure cooker to cook meat. It comes out boiled, well done, and basically like a overcooked pot roast. If you like your meat like this (and many do, especially if you like pot roast that is flavored with onions and carrots and is very tender (I don't, but this is a matter of taste)). Just search for "pressure cooker pot roast". Pressure cookers concentrate flavor - in pot roast you might use six onions, in a pressure cooker - two.

Pressure cookers are wonderful but God forbid you open one when that pressure isnt gone! Thanks for the vid I just purchased a 7 quart one this morning. I will go back for a smaller one later.

we cook muttons n lamb in pressure cooker and they so soft tender and juicy. I wanted to ask if its normal and legal to use pressure cooker like mine which makes loud whistle. Its an indian hawkins brand. :(
