Hi Nancy,is "zoom" blocked in China? I know many website domains that we can access are blocked there. I did a vpn check and looks like it is not accessible. Are you able to teach Chinese students over zoom?

I'm not sure how helpful my reply will be as I left China (Beijing) six months ago, but at the time I left we'd all been teaching online via Zoom for several months. Of course, mine was a school account. Best of luck!

I use zoom every day, 5 days a week, 40 mins free sections, loved it, hmmm great question, engaging class online? always ask what the students love and expand, add the culture difference since i am a great Chinese teacher, lol, you know me Nancy, and I love you, 圣诞节快乐🎄🎁⛄️

That would be a great video to model games online! I’ll have to recruit some teachers or students to model for that video, but great idea to show that in action!!

So happy to hear that this video was helpful Amy! I knew nothing about Zoom a year ago & I learned quickly this year! I really love keeping it simple and student focused, even with all the fun tech things we can do!

@@NancyTaylor I absolutely love your videos. I was supposed to be in one of your training sessions this morning, but I encountered a very sick golden doodle when I got up today. My question- is there a way to do interactive apps on zoom- say for instance I want to play an online game with my students and want to see their interaction as well as mine? Or pull up a doc and have them annotate live on it? If so, could you do a video on those topics? Pretty please

I've been using zoom (most of Indonesian, Malaysian, Singaporean teachers I know use zoom) since March. I teach maths, so I need to use notepad to solve maths cases. But I use my cat and hamster to attract my students attention 😂😂😂. For my research methodology, I decide my students into some smaller groups, then they have to assign a leader of the group. They have to read the assessment I gave them and other group have to retell what they said. For my adult English class I send them some links of current issues from internet and we discuss about it.

And I stop being a "happy teacher" after some of my students said I look weird and fake 😞

Such helpful info to hear how you use Zoom and what strategies you use! It sounds like you are an amazing teacher! I have had people tell me I would be an annoying teacher from watching my videos, but I don't pay any attention. They just aren't my students or who will learn from me. Everyone has their fit. They will find the right instructor for them. I would not worry about your students saying you look weird and fake. That is your special sauce!:)
