We spent weeks looking for a more professional solution to this problem. The setup is slightly more expensive but it'll produce the highest music and voice quality. To do this, you need a mixer. You don't need a fancy mixer - in fact, you can start with a starter mixer shown in this video.

The critical product to make it happen is a MIXER, which resolves the single audio channel issue with Zoom. AV Now provides excellent customer service, they sell a bundle showcased in this video on their website: www.avnow.com/...
[NEW UPDATE AS OF MAY 22, 2020] Since the bundle above has been sold out, AV Now provides another bundle that will also work, shipping on June 2, 2020 and they are taking pre-orders now: www.avnow.com/...

I wanted to see how other people deal with problems with zoom audio. I just bought a audio interface from the same company, not the same model (you called it a mixer, which is a part of the interface). BTW, channel 5/6 doesn't have an input, even though you have a post-it note at the level control. Anyways if you are transmitting music as well as your voice, I think you should be unchecking the "suppress persistent background noise" 11:40 since the music is considered background noise. That is the problem I had with Zoom with my kid's recital. Zoom is designed to transmit voices in a meeting (that's my opinion/guess), so voices will not be filtered out, but the music will, or at least be transmitted in a muffled way. Also, 10:45 you should uncheck the "automatically adjust microphone volume". Set the volume here to the max. You already took pains in getting the upstream mixer levels right, you should not let the computer change the volume on top of that. That button would be checked only if you don't have a mixer and are using the internal microphone of the laptop.

I played around with the settings, unchecking both “suppress persistent background noise” and “automatically adjust microphone level” -I also set the echo cancellation to “aggressive”. I was pleased with the result. Note: it is the external speaker that is connected to level 5/6. If you join the meeting on a second device as a participant, in order to resolve the latency issue, and the music is not loud enough on the participant end, crank up the white control on level 5/6, the one labeled “iPod” on the sticky note (On level 2 the iPod signal goes in, on level 5/6 FX send, the signal is sent out). You can relabel this output “speaker” if that makes more sense, because it is where the speaker plugs in. I also connected my iPod for stereo, using the left/right line in channels on level 3/4 (red is right).

Thanks for this video. I personally us an audio interface. The mixer lets you use a lot of different devices. I can only use my mac. I would love to use my phone or ipad as a music source. Might be different for me, but also, in zoom app. Once the meeting is on, i go into the screen sharing, click on the advance tab and share computer audio only. Then my audience hears my music on my mac and hear my mic.

There is still the problem of audio sync. I recommend people get the free version of vmix software which allows you to delay the audio signal so that your audio can match perfectly. all you would need to buy are some virtual audio cables worth like 5$ or 10$ in order to treat the audio coming out of vmix as a microphone.

So she has mislabelled her little notes. She’s inputting mic on channel 1 and her iPod on channel 2. These 2 inputs are being mixed together and sent to Zoom as a single output (as zoom can only handle one input) via the USB connection. So now her students can hear her and also the music. But she also needs to be able to hear. So she is then using the FX channel on 5/6 to output to her stereo the music from channel 2 but not the mic from channel 1 - as she doesn’t need to hear herself. I wonder if the USB acts as a 2 way connection so that you can also hear input from Zoom, ie hear the students if they need to speak to you? It’s not clear from this. I usually have students on mute during the class but we chat a little at the end. So my only confusion is around that.
@riyankaribble
@riyankaribble 4 жыл бұрын
@@helenabellydancer yes, that's true. I actually have a similar set up to this. I figured out what the set up was when I purchased a similar mixer. In your scenario and relating to the video, your tablet would have a headphone (3.5mm) cable (balanced) coming out of it and into one of the available audio channel(s) 1/4" inputs (there's a couple ways to do this depending on your mixer). She has her mic and her music device going into her mixer, then out of the mixer (via USB) into her computer. That's just for audio sent to Zoom (as a combined feed). Additionally, she also comes out of the mixer (via a "send"/output, using a balanced 1/4" cable in this instance) which goes directly into a mic/line input on the back of the external speaker (in the video the speaker used a 1/4" input, but yours may be XLR, either way they make cables to adapt). This "send" is tied into all of her FX knobs (red knobs) for each channel. Meaning, whatever is plugged into those channels (microphone, ipod, etc) can also be SENT out to the external speaker separately by setting the level(s) of the FX knob(s).

Jennifer Guzman I am not sure. I don’t have any problems listening or talking to my students. I suggest calling the experts at AVNow and asking them. It’s got to be something in your setup that is wrong. So sorry I can’t help. 😩 make sure original sound is turned off and speakers for your laptop are turned on. Do you have a Mac or PC?

Hello, so glad I stumbled upon your You Tube channel, there is not much info on teaching fitness classes via Zoom, the sound and music are definitely lacking so I am hoping I can figure this out. I presently have a Shure headset mic but it is not wireless, will that work? I also have a Sony GTK-XB7 bluetooth speaker, I'm hoping it will be able to plug into the Behrenger mixer. If both the non-wireless mic and the Sony speaker work I will purchase the mixer. Can you list out the names of the 5 cords that are used? I appreciate your help, thank you so much!

Hi Fei, Great vid! I bought the same mixer and have a Shure wireless headset. I tried to set my equipment as like you did and set the Zoom settings the same, but Zoom will not play the mic and music from the Q802USB mixer. The computer recognizes the mixer (shows as USB CODEC) and I can hear both lines coming from the stereo equipment but the attendees cannot hear the music or mic audio via Zoom meeting. I have the same audio settings in Zoom (reg and advanced) as you. I tried using a Mac Air and PC laptop and both failed. Did you have to download any additional software to get this to work? Also, how are your USB/2 Track buttons situated? (up/up, down/down, up/down or down/up). Any help would be appreciated! Eric

Hi! there, thank you so much. I am an ecstatic dance teacher who facilitates dance on Zoom by playing music from itunes whilst giving guidance. I have couple fo questions. 1) I live in UK an the mixer is cheap enough for me to buy. But the microphones you suggested are very expensive. Can you recommend a different one bit cheaper or can I use any such microphones a little cheaper but gives good quality sound ? Or would you suggest I buy this particular one (Shure) for it to work well . 2) I use Wondows 10 and use Itunes where my playlist is played from - is this okay to use with this mixer and microphone? Look forward to your advice. 3) And do I need a good interent connection (wired with Ethernet ) rather than WIfi ? thanks S

I have AVNow mixer (different one) and Shure microphone. Have it set up correctly according to your demo, AVNow YT video, and direct support from AVNow. But there is a terrible noise with each word I say and horrible, disrupted sound quality. Without the system in use I play music from computer and get great sound but no mic and few options for music (can't play from phone). I'm half crazy with trying to get this right! I'll call back to AVNow but have you seen problems with there being terrible noise from mic and comparable noise in music? I'm plugging USB into an iMac (desktop). Any chance there's any incompatibility? I don't have other option at present. Also called support for Shure microphone but haven't solved problem. Thanks so much for tackling this issue and responding to comments here.
