This video shows you everything you need to know about how to visit Summit One Vanderbilt - how to get there, what the experience is like, and honest reviews so you can decide for yourself if it's worth it. Book your tickets here: www.getyourguide.com/new-york...
We booked a daytime ticket with the Ascent glass elevator add-on. The glass elevator ascends from the 93rd floor up another 10 stories. Regardless of what ticket you purchase, you all go up to the 91st floor together to enter the 2-story mirrored "Transcendence" room, the balloon room, the "Clouds" art installation by Yayoi Kusama, and all the other interactive experiences. The only difference is the 5-minute glass elevator ride at the top (called "Ascent"), facing south with epic views of the Empire State Building and lower Manhattan. This Ascent elevator is an add-on that can be purchased on the 93rd floor. So you can decide in the moment if you want to go up the glass elevator or not.
Right now, in 2022, daytime tickets are about $40 for the regular experience during the daytime. Add $10 if you're going at night, and add $20 if you want to include the Ascent glass elevator at the top. So if you choose to do the nighttime ticket with the glass elevator, it'd be $70. You can (and should) book your timed-tickets in advance.
So is the experience worth the ticket price? You'll have to watch the video to decide for yourself. We felt like it was worth it. We've been to a lot of observation decks in New York (and all around the world - you can see a few of our favorites in Dubai here: • At the Top of Burj Kha... ) and the experience at SUMMIT One Vanderbilt exceeds or at least rivals them all. Great views, fun interactivity, unique immersive experiences, and super easy access being connected to Grand Central.
If you have any questions about visiting Summit One Vanderbilt, please ask in the comments. We respond to everything. Hope you have a great day!

Same! We've always loved Chrysler building. I heard they got approved for their own observation deck on floors 61-62, right above the eagles. Hopefully they build that soon so we can go in!

Very informative video. I've done ESB, The Edge, and ToTR so far. One World and Summit One are left for now. I don't care for heights or elevators especially elevators but I have managed to have great experiences. I do my best to not allow my fears to keep me from experiencing the beauty of NYC.

Top of the Rock was our favorite until this one opened. The view and the experience at Summit One Vanderbilt are both better than Rock. (I still love Top of the Rock, but if you can only do one, definitely do Summit.)

Those mirrors and views are just insane. Never heard of this building before. But that's no wonder, considering whole building was opened in 2020. Some mega chunck of steel and glass did not leak into international news in that year.

Yeah, New York opened two new observation decks recently - this one and the Edge over in Hudson Yards - but I feel like neither one is a big deal internationally, just here in New York.

Hi Jenn, not back in the City full-time, yet. This was just on a two week trip. We use a Canon G7X Mark II for filming KZfaq videos. But honestly we only take it out specifically to shoot a video. We never use it for day-to-day memories with Kai. For that, we use our phones.

Did you go on the elevator with just your group you came with or did you have to go in an combined group with other people ?
@PerfectLittlePlanet
@PerfectLittlePlanet Жыл бұрын
Combined. While we were there, they were putting about 8 people in an elevator (we heard they put more in when it's busier). Since it was just the three of us, we went in with a few people we didn't know. I suppose if you had a larger group though, you'd likely have the entire elevator to yourselves.

@PerfectLittlePlanet

We booked the daytime ticket and went up in the afternoon. First thing might be nice because there'll be fewer people up there, so you'll get to experience it more to yourself. Plus the sun will be over to the East, so your view of Manhattan to the South won't have a harsh glare.

I would imagine this place would lead to some absolutely Terrible problems for those with vertigo! Do they at least have some major warnings for folks with vertigo problems or who are prone to dizziness?
@PerfectLittlePlanet
@PerfectLittlePlanet Жыл бұрын
You're absolutely right, but I didn't see any warnings for that anywhere. I heard even the warning for inappropriate clothing was only added after the first visitors came through and said something. I guess they're hoping people watch some videos like this before they come so they can decide for themselves if it's a good idea or not.

I have been to all five NYC observation decks, numerous times. If you have kids in your group One Vanderbilt will be a fun visit-- kids couldn't care less about spotting NYC landmarks, so the many distractions here will keep them occupied. But if you're old school like I am and visit observation decks primarily for the views, it's a hard pass. While One Vanderbilt's are potentially the best views in New York, seeing them without irritation is problematic. Not only is it bright from all the reflection.... it's hot. It's quite loud inside (not helped by a bagpipe player performing on St. Patrick's Day!). You have to be careful stepping around and over people lying on the floor taking reflective selfies. And some views are virtually blocked because of the various floating balloons and other gizmos obstructing your line of sight. The adjective I use to describe the experience is... "Disneyesque".
@PerfectLittlePlanet
@PerfectLittlePlanet 11 ай бұрын
Haha, very Disneyesque. They full-on went for experience and social-sharability over views. Which observation deck is your favorite?

@stepheneson4107
@stepheneson4107 11 ай бұрын
The Edge is much more spacious than Empire State. Easy to spread out and enjoy the views, both indoors and out. Its "hole in the floor" is interesting in theory but the reality is much less dramatic, not to mention being crowded with people trying to get a look straight down. Just as enjoyable are its outward-leaning glass retaining walls, allowing you to literally "lean out in space" to the world below. Its downside compared to ESB is the location on the far west side of Manhattan, though there are good views across to Jersey and up the Hudson River.
