"How To" | Wacky Rigging Worms for Bobber Doggin'

We are back to now walk through the steps to rig a worm for bobber doggin' wacky style. This rigging brings a whole new action to the worm under the water and with bobber doggin' this rig you are bringing it right in the wheel house for some steelhead.
Watch as I break down the rigging steps to set this up.
Materials needed to rig a wacky bobber dog worm:
-Steelhead worm 3-6 inch (Cleardrift 3" used in video)
-Hook size 2-1/0 depending on worm length (size 2 Eagle claw used)
-10-12lb izorline leader 3ft
-Beau mac cheeter or corky size 12
-3 inch sewing needle to thread on worm

What is that "Bomax Cheater?" Is it a soft piece of floating foam to make the worm float and swim evenly underneath the bobber? I wonder if X Factor makes smaller worms for stock trout? Also, do the X Factor Worms float? Thanks ahead if you could answer my questions, I appreciate it!

Do u use any split shot on the 10lb leader. Or let it free float like a bead when bobber dogging? Imagine you wouldn't. I wouldn't. Just wondering if there is a condition requiring that. Like faster water?

Great question! Thank you for sharing. In a scenario with fast water it will require a larger lead to the float to keep the presentation down and the worm can free float behind

Hey man I was wondering if you could help me understand completely how the gear looks underwater bobberdoggin. Does the bait get pulled by the weight and follow behind it so the weight is technically the first thing the fish sees or does the bait lead the weight downstream like side drifting. (If I’m even correct about side drifting?)

Why do you use an egg loop knot? Do you ever put bait on the worm?

vulcanez I always tie a egg loop knot to allow the line to sit on the hook correctly. It allows for the hook to sit naturally and not be out of position.
