This is kryptonite information. It will change your life! Join the 5 am club. I've been doing this for six weeks now. I start with 20 minutes exercise by intensely running or dancing on the spot. The first three days I had such ache from the running that I could hardly walk (embarrasing), and now I barely even break a sweat after 20 minutes. Moreover, I have a sustained energylevel during the day and need less sleep. Usually go to bed around midnight, then I wake up at 4.30 or right before 5 without an alarm clock. Amazing shifts happening for me. Thank You, Robin!!

I get up at 6am already to get my kids breakfast done Mon - Fri (an hour later on Sat and Sun), so I'm hoping I can do an hour earlier. My problem is going to bed in good enough time to get enough sleep! After the kids are in bed, I get sucked into the whole social media thing or watching tv like there is no tomorrow! Sometimes I'm up till 2am LOL! But I'm hoping to start a new good habit. Maybe you should try again. :) The trick is to go to bed at a reasonable time; and for me, I'll try my best to drink Chamomile tea to make myself sleepy to make that happen. All the best to you! :)

I have been applying your advise in many ways and am getting a lot more done and feeling a lot better. I want to suggest one very simple and powerful technique that has helped me get up and has worked for me all my life when I needed to get up early. I didn't see this in the video but it's powerful. It is this: When you lay down to go to sleep, visualize in your minds eye the numbers of the time that you need to get up. And mentally affirm that it is very important that you must get up at this time. (For me this works best if it is associated with an important event like interview or whatever). Bottom line it works. The many times I have done this, I just needed to convince my subconscious mind that it is important and visualize when I must get up. Every time, I end up either waking up a minute before alarm goes off. Or waking up a min before the time even if I forget to set the alarm. AND.....I feel a lot of energy to get out of bed. I don't feel like staying in bed when I do this. I have a spring to get out of bed and more energy. Again, the basic idea is convincing myself 'afirmative and important reason to get up, and visualize time'. :)

For the 20-20-20 rule, I do the journaling or reviewing the days tasks my first 20-30 minutes. My body needs more time to wake up before I jump into exercise. And realistically these 3 tasks actually take 30 minutes each when you account for the prep: putting on your clothes, have a drink of water, getting my journal, etc. So it's 30-30-30 for me.

Overall a good message but I think it's overly optimistic for the average Joe. Although I agree with the premise that waking up early is a cornerstone for a productive and purposeful life, to expect your body to cooperate with these changes may be unrealistic. I've read in other books that suggested sleeping habits need to be built gradually. Eg: if you want to be part of the "5:00 club", ease into it by waking up 1/2 hour earlier than usual in your first week, then add 30 minutes to each of the following weeks. This will give your body (and mind) time to adjust to these changes, and help prevent burnout. Sometimes it's best to be realistic about your goals, otherwise your self-esteem will take a hit.. I suggest taking baby steps.

6am club for me - I Need 7 hrs. My alarm is the night before and I am in bed by 11pm. 20 min meditation: it's easier to meditate when I wake up because I am already in that state. 20min hydration: Just spend 7 hrs dehydrated, makes sense to hydrate first thing in the morning (4 glasses of H2O). I do this while planning my day, but now that I've read the 5am club I might listen to material about my field at this time, and plan my day the night before. 20 min run + wash off the sweat with a cold shower = feel like I can take on the world.

The only problem I have with your early-risers message, Robin, is that you should acknowledge that some people are going to struggle with this more than others, regardless of effort, because of undiagnosed narcolepsy. Your message and my inability to get up and out of my morning fog (which I fought for decades) really hurt my self esteem until I was diagnosed with narcolepsy and got treatment that actually works. By taking my medication 30 minutes before I have to get out of bed in the morning and understanding my disease, my life has turned around and my mornings have completely changed. My medication has changed my life, and I realize now I shouldn't have been so hard on myself. Brains are complicated machines, and we're all unique. One-size-fits-all messages can hurt people, so be careful.

A tip I like to give to people is to just wake up 5 minutes earlier every single day until you've finally reached your goal wakeup time. Also, make sure you go to bed the amount of hours before you want to wake up so you get the right amount of sleep for you (everyone is different, some people only need 5 hours of sleep, some people need 9 hours of sleep).

Maybe, but your "tapering effect" has the high potential to revert back to old sleeping patterns, because it lacks the key of discomfort to train your mind. What Robin describes is consistent with any change you want to see in your life and also a guaranteed life-time discipline (there will be no desire for relapse). The first few weeks will be tough, but after 90 days (he says 66) of any beneficial discomfort will reboot any pre-existing habit.

Well, by 5:00 I have already been up 2-3 hours at least! And your right, it is the perfect time of the day and so private and yours alone. I recommend going to bed early is the key, at sunset or little later. This habit I developed years ago backpacking, when sunset welcomes you into the tent and out of the cold night air, and quiet dark and the mountains sing their night song to you.

This is absolute truth. You have to experience it for yourself. My story is that it happened to me accidentally in my freshman year. I just happened to fall asleep at 8pm one night and naturally woke up at 5am. I had brain power like I've never felt before. It truly felt like the golden hour! In that time I read my bible with such clarity and no distraction, fired through a few articles and just felt so good it was inexplicable at the time but then i came to know that the 5am club is a thing. It's fact that the brain is optimal at 5am - 8am

Personally I tried to wake up at 6.00 am for a while but the result was devastating: I was sleepy for the whole day,eat twice more since been feeling hungry all the day long, could not concentrate on anything else while looking forward to one thing only: get to bed.Horrible experience, after 1 year of this self- destruction I quitted and now I get up when I naturally feel it,and it is a whole new life,I must say. Writing is really a great thing, thank you Robin.

Although I appreciate the fancy ideas and gung-ho enthusiasm of this video, the fact is some people really are "night people." It is a real thing. Some are nocturnal. Some receive their best inspiration at night as well as their highest energy. I for one have almost no will power getting up while the stars are still visible. I feel like I should be going back to sleep. My equilibrium is off. Now mind you, I have suffered for months on end getting up at 3am to get to jobs at 4am before somebody tells me I never tried it. Just isn't for me. My inspiration is best between 11pm and 2am, give or take. There is a certain peace I feel when everyone else has finished their day and I am amping up even more. Perhaps subconsciously I am planning for the following day in the same way you are getting up at 5am. I set things in place late so that it is first looked at in the new day.

Wake up early and be the member of the 5 am club.....yes I have been enjoying the blissfulness of getting up early - it gives me a sense of gratitude which I FEEL and yes its the perfect time for me to appraise my previous day and decide on corrective actions to live a better day that yesterday. I feel all the blessing being showered from the heaven above and very few on the ground to receive it. I do fail sometimes to win the battle with the bed but I do finally win. Robin this is one of the best thing any human beings can do to live a more energized life. God bless you and thanks for being around always.

Since doing this for the past 3 days i have noticed an extreme difference. Every day i jump out of bed and go for a 20 mile run and when i come back i write an inspirational speech to tell my kids i then work on searching for alien life while it is still dark and then i do 600 press ups so i train my arms to begin painting my current masterpiece. After that it is around 7am i then have a breakfast of a protein bar and 5 weetabixes so i have enough energy to run 60 miles to london to work. Where i inspire everyone at my work to be like me i have already been promoted in my job to the boss of the whole company. I the leave work early at around 12 so that i can go and do a marathon for charity. Then i go around london street performing to homeless people and i then give them enough money to get food for the next week

Tell your mind that you already have the habit of waking up at 5am , that makes it easy . Also, there are other reasons which are responsible for the obstacles such as health problems such as insomnia , cold, etc , addiction of mobile phones is the major problem which is directly responsible for this , so if you can't do this , don't give up . Take a wise step by evaluating problems and finding solutions of them instead of blaming yourself . . Also ,do it as your normal habitual task! Remember , every work has its particular way , if you want to do that work , you have to travel that particular way .... And to travel , you need to find that way !! That's it...
