I have rheumatoid arthritis and severe back injury and have been disabled for 5 years. Left leg was paralyzed. Lots of back infiltrations and cortisone. I lived in Belgium and worked hard for 30 years as an independent baker. I have been living in the countryside in France for 3 years now. I could hardly walk, go shopping and my household. I started walking every day with small steps and now to 5000 to 7000 steps a day and I have never felt so good mentally and physically. I now have a goal to get up every day and in the meantime have become a healthy addiction and I recommend it to everyone. In the meantime I hardly take any medication anymore and I eat very healthy and it feels so good. I have been doing the Wim Hof method for 4 months now with breathing exercises and cold showers and my body and life have changed completely positively for which I am extremely grateful. Thank you for your positive contribution, for which I am very grateful. Namaste🙏💟

Spot on Mike. I recently started a job as a registered nurse. At work I log about 12k-15k steps per 12 hour shift. My nutrition and workouts have remained exactly the same. I’ve lost 7lbs in 3 months without changing anything but the new job. Walking works!

Yes, walking it actually works, despite what many people comment here. A collegue at work went from fat to small, just by walking two hours a day combined with healthy diet during sex months. It works because your body prefers using bodyfat as an energy source during walking instead of other sources, because bodyfat is a steady and long lasting energy supplier. When you run your body will prefer using glycogen instead of bodyfat. Walking is also a great excercise for when you fast for longer periods of time because it suppresses hunger.

Great advice : After going up to 83kg skinny-fat during lockdown, I started doing 7.5km walks every day. Took 70 minutes. Walking fast, at a pace where I would be out of breath if trying to hold a conversation. Keep pushing till the end of the walk. Dropped 0.5kg per week consistently till I hit 76kg (eg after losing 7kg in approx 3 months ). I did no other physical activity. Stopped eating bread was the only other change I made (and I didn't eat much bread to begin with). Even at a slow pace, say 2 steps per second, means 1000 steps takes 500 seconds so approximately 10 minutes. So 6000 steps in 1 hour, which is probably about 4.5km. If you really march it out (say 3 steps per second ), 1000 steps takes 350 seconds, so approximately 6 minutes. So 10,000 steps in 1 hour, which is probably about 7-7.5km. Definitely doable. If you go with a friend, don't chat : if you're walking hard enough, you won't have breath to do it. In non-lockdown life, you'll probably add another 7,000 steps just walking around doing normal things. So 15,000+ steps a day should be doable for everyone with 1 hour dedicated to a fast walk

This. Going at the maximum pace you can breathe through your nose or complete a sentence but not too much higher so that you're huffing and puffing. That's about the maximum rate your body can burn fat with oxygen, beyond that your body can mostly only burn glucose anerobically, which it will use muscle and protein to make that glucose longer term.

Finally some great information on walking. I have been walking for over 10 years as my only cardio. Yes I walk a lot between 5 and 9 miles per day, but it is great because it’s easy on your joints, you don’t need a gym or expensive workout stuff. You just need a comfortable pair of shoes. Keeps me leaner but my strength training is most important. As we age we need to lift more frequently to build muscle mass and do less cardio.

Literally such facts! Walking 10k steps a day for a 180 lb male will scientifically burn upto an extra pound a week which is insane! Walking is the best form of cardio cuz it doesn't spike your appetite, unlike all other types of cardio (which actually makes dieting much harder!)

@@codealvo okay okay that's good. Congrats on hitting your fitness goals. I'm like 260 with a 5'10 frame. I've gained 10 pounds a year while being in school. I plan on walking with weight (20lbs) for an hour to an hour and a half with some cycling in there to spice things up with my routine. I just want to lose as much weight as possible and I'll be cutting for a long time. I'm not concerned on maintaining or gaining muscle until I at least get around to 190-200 range.

His theory on calorie consumption doesn't really understand the benefits of aerobics. He's using the old, "calories burned doing the activity model." That is NOT what's important. What is important is how your aerobic activity boosts your metabolism and burns calories all day every day. It's not a case of "how many calories did I burn for the half hour I was walking."
