Hi Neida, Rochelle here and I suggest washing 1 wig every 10 - 15 wearings unless you are near cigarette smoke or perspire a lot, then maybe 7 to 10. Remember, it's mainly to keep a fresh scent and soft feeling. Don't need lots of shampoo. Thanks for watching!

Hi Beverly, Rochelle here! The important thing to remember is that wigs don't have oils from scalp and we don't want too many drying suds...also, typically, our wigs just need to be freshened up inside the cap and not as much the 'hair'. So, if you MUST use something else now - really cut the shampoo with lots of water and wash and finish within 1 minute. It doesn't need to be massaged and scrubbed; just freshened up. And, use a conditioner and rinse with cold water thoroughly! Very important. Hope this helps and I can't guarantee what you're using -

Most important is not a ton of shampoo and rinsing both very well in cold water, If it worked the first time, are u putting something else on it between washings? Play detective to figure out your step by step. They should be perfect every time...

Hi Jackie, if you feel you rinsed it well, I wouldn't worry about it. That can come from the conditioner too, and I'm sure you rinsed that well too. Just let it dry, and it should be nice and silky. If it feels gummy, that's your hint it needs to be rinsed out more next time. Thanks for asking! Ro

If one wig is worn everyday for a year (and we at GSW can't possibly know how the wig is being cared for, is it washed, brushed, does the client smoke, or have heavy perspiration, etc.) we suggest that you consider replacing it for a fresh, new one; of course it's your choice. Consider that for an average, short wig, the annual cost per day is under $.45 cents, or approximately $3.00 per week. Most of our clients own 2 to 20 wigs and love the freedom to change their looks as they choose. When we own more than one wig, all the wigs will most definitely last - and look better longer - just because they aren't worn as much! I still own and wear wigs that are 5, 8 and even 12 years old. Hi Marlene, Rochelle here! My first thought is that the conditioner isn't being washed out thoroughly- which can look almost dusty. You didn't mention how the wig 'feels' in that area. My other thoughts are - are the wigs old? Is your shampoo or conditioner old? Don't know the maker of the wigs so I can't speak to how long the fibers will last. Maybe you're washing too much. Maybe you didn't brush the wig out before washing - dust may have settled...Many variables. And, to be honest, I know my products up and down and all around - but I can't speak about other companies. If your wigs or shampoo and conditioner have been around a while, consider it's time to start fresh as these items can go bad. Hi, I'm wondering if you use hair spray on your wigs? I get that grayish thing too, so I soak it for about a half hour, then gently rub some more shampoo in that area. Usually that's all it takes, a little extra soaking and a bit of gentle shampooing. Rinse very well, of course. ☺

If one wig is worn every single day, all day, and washed on a regular basis as suggested, after 9 to 12 months, you may want a new, fresh wig. Maybe not, it's your choice. For the masses and based on how some women treat their wigs, for about 55 cents a day for a year, a woman feels fantastic in her wig. Most women will end up owning 2 to 20 wigs and then our wigs almost never wear out since they're being switched around. Thanks for watching!
