Paige Dyer my guess would be no to tight hold because she said all she did was moisturize and that’s a holding product that sounds similar in function to gel, which the client doesn’t want.

At 26 I can name every person who has been in my head. I started my loc process 5 months ago and people always ask me why I don't switch locticians 😒 I trust her process and it's working. She always has my hair laid, uses natural products and I don't have any build up. Plus my hair is growing and she's cheap! A negative is she is pretty fair and her schedule is tight!! And I wasn't too fond of her parting system at first, but I think it's going to be worth it in the end.

So I moved from caring for my own hair to having my stylist send her clients for me to start and maintain their sisterlocs and they are always shocked and pleased with how little products I use and the tips healthy hair care tips I give them between maintenance appointments. I am sooo thakful that I saw this video before retwisting my hair. I am 3 months in and I've been using locking creame wax. I've washed 3 times, basically when my scalp starts to itch and I haven't have any real issues so far but to know that I don't have to use wax or get and can use just moisturizer to retwist, I am so happy. Thanks for helping all of us what to do and what not to do when it comes to loc care. I know we all appreciate this. Pretty pissed that the stylist she went to was mad lazy. Even when I was starting my own, I wanted to be lazy too but I kept marching on lol. Grranted, they aren't even but they are all of similar size. She shouldn't be a stylist if she is going to be that lazy. Keep doing what you are doing one head at a time sis! one love.

I’m so happy your client found you if she didn’t over a period of time the product would have built up in her Hair and added extra weight and would have eventually caused thinning. It's nice. I started my baby locs with 2-strand twists then interlocked for a while and now just twisting. To wash my starter locs I simply used a large stocking cap. My hair locked relatively quickly, just surpassed 1 year.

What do you mean by interlocked them..curious I started my son with 2 strand twists and seem to not want to stay twisted when I retwist them .I be having to put 3 4 clips on 1 twist to hold it

This is an absolutely amazing! I always thought and was taught that u need to use gel or locking gel for a retwist. I’m and delighted to know all I need is a good wash and moisturizer and my retwist can still come out professional looking. Thanks for sharing!

I use jamaican mango and lime and I never had build up my locs. They’re pretty thick plus I have 4c texture. Locs can be delicate and not everyone knows the right techniques to handle them I think.

When I had my locs in I had a lot of build up. Then I saw a video, on youtube of course, where this lady used Ajax lemon dish soap. Since Ajax is a degreaser its suppose to help with all the gunk that gets trapped in your locs. So I used it. And when I tell youuuu that it took out that build up. It. took. it. out! That water was soooo dirty. I didn't realize all that was in my hair. BUT! You do need to follow up with a shampoo that is designed to put moisture back in your hair and oils to condition and keep it moisturized cause that Ajax will strip your hair. Its not an everyday method but do it once every few months. Love your videos by the way. Just found you today 😊 I don't have my locs anymore but I am thinking about putting them back in.

Her hair is beautiful. Great vid. All gels are not equal lol I do recommend you try Evolving Textures "O" Gel. It's water and oil based. No residue, full of vitamins and smells amazing. Excellent for locs.

Absolutely. Not saying all gels are bad. I have clients who prefer to use gel. I personally don’t need or use any and some clients are the same way.

I'm mad. My boyfriend had a friend start his locs and I was re twisting them for him and all of the sections are different sizes. In the back they are huge rectangles and up top the are triangles squares and all different sizes... I think she got tired near the end and said f*ck it. Is there a way we can start it over without cutting them off?

These are things that I have been told by different hairdressers” you know I have to pull” While doing a style that I requested. “ you have to put your hair in styles so you can get used to it” . In another words I have to bear with the pain. I didn’t go back.

Thank you so much for this video! I am watching a bunch of videos for re twisting deadlocks because I am re twisting someone else's soon. Don't worry, I have experience, I actually started my dads dreadlocks. I just need to see other people's technique's so I know other ways to make the dreadlocks better. But another tip is DO NOT twist the opposite direction for starter locks.
