Why should Sony ever stop They made Walkman casette playeers, Walkman CD players, Walkman MP3 players, Walkman phones. Walkman is basically their brand name for portable music devices. And now I somehow want a "modern" music player that looks like the original walkman but not only plays casettes but also has a screen and microSD slot to enjoy all ages of portable music.

2nd gen (or maybe 3rd. I can't remember if dad's had radio) walkman. Dad had one of those. Sad thing is it was better than anything else produced for over a decade. The damn thing survived falling off a 2 story building's roof. It was literally flawless. 1 battery, no stuffing around. it played music.

That's incorrect though. In both dynamic range and frequency response, even Type IV Metal tape with Dolby noise reduction is inferior to standard 16 bit 48 kHz digital audio.

Austin Evans Dedicated music devices are still fairly popular in asia, and Japan. So it makes sense that Sony would still make them. Hell when i was stationed in Japan in 2015 PSP was still very popular and being sold. There are still great devices out there. I know Fiio makes an awesome one

I used to be a Walkman aficionado back in the early 90's. I even did my science project on which Walkman's had the best sound quality. My Walkman had the Mega Bass button on the door along with the digital tuner and the crappy AVLS, but man did brand new tapes sound so good on that Walkman. I think I paid $120 for it back in 92'

Uhh man... Walkman, I haven’t heard for years. I saved my allowance to buy a walkman in elementary, I was like the happiest kid in school having that. Heck, my parents got me a battery-operated radio as a birthday present, when I was in fifth grade. That’s nostalgic device😍😍😍
