How To Water A Lawn One Day a Week
If your time is limited every week like mine is you might want to consider a one-day watering schedule. It has worked great for me on my "test plot" area. When I do water this way I water ALL day long so I am giving the yard a very deep soaking. If your current watering schedule is working for you please do not change anything.

So many things to comment on. Happy birthday to your son, holy cow your lawn is beautiful, good thing you’re a special kinda guy to take care of your extra special lawn. Finally, thanks for the memorial scene. I used to get upset when others didn’t observe Memorial Day as I do. Now I believe it’s hard for someone to reflect when they themselves didn’t experience a military life. I would serve again if my body would let me. Thanks Pete

I'm grateful it rained good Friday. Was going to water my lawn but now I get to hold off. I have some very slight stress happening. But I'm expecting it to make it thru summer with minimal die out. Happy b day to your son. Thanks for the great videos

It’s nice that you have a dedicated well for watering. I’m on city water which is cost prohibitive to water 1/2 acre. Water+sewage=$$$$$! So Hydretain is my friend!

@@SexyBootyFart I do the same on a minimum basis, but think of Pete a lot when I'm cutting my grass and all of the jargon, gyrations annunciations, and regional accents, etc. Whenever I make a decision about what I'm doing to my lawn, I think "what would Pete say if he was here?"

I have a problem with grit getting in my springlers after about 1 hour of running on the well. They slow down and stop the water flow. I have to tear down the springlers and blow them out with compressed air. Do you have this problem? Do you have a filter? If so what micron? I spend 3-4 days a week moving and cleaning out springlers to water approximately 2 acres of fescue and burmuda.

His liquid aeration allows him to push a probe 3 feet deep into his yard anywhere he wants. The clay is not hindering his water absorption.

Pete I'm in southern Delaware and have K31 tall fescue grass in my yard. What would you recommend I could blend in with that to help with summer stress. The K31 is awesome in Spring/Fall, but stresses very easy in the summer. I have irrigation and cut it at 4". Thanks for any help and God bless our USA on this special holiday!!

Pete, your not worried about burning out the well pump running for 6 hours straight. I just got a new pump installed at my place and the installer told me not to go longer than an hour straight without resting the well. I have plenty of water but I worry about the pump.

Good comment here. When they installed my pump I asked for a pump that could be ran long periods of time without possible damage. I don’t know the name of it but that’s what they gave me. I haven’t had any issues to date

Pete, as a veteran I do appreciate you having the distinction between Memorial Day and Veterans Day correct. Great video, I had to smile while watching it as I do this exact same method in my yard and its very effective at keeping the yard from dying off/going dormant during the northern Virginia hot dry summers. One thing I did install on my well that you may want to look into is a device called a Cycle Stop Valve - cyclestopvalves.com/. What the Cycle Stop Valve does is keep your pump from constantly cycling on and off while there's a steady (more than 1 GPM) demand for water and allows the pump to run the whole time allowing it to produce the pressure. Cycling on and off is hard on your pump and it would much rather be running full blast than cycle on and off. I've had it installed for almost a year in the house and have been extremely pleased with it especially considering the low cost for it.

3 hours ! Holy cow! I would need a farm loan to afford running my water for 3 hours. My wife yells at me watering twice a week for 8-10 minutes per zone. (She controls the money)
