What a peaceful, lovely flower! I am amazed that it worked with no paint bleeding under the stencil! It’s absolutely stunning! You did a lovely job adding the leaves too. 🤗🦋🌸

It worked out so well and the stencil did lift at times so I was surprised it didn't bleed too lol.

Thanks so much Nancy, I have also tried it with the rainbow stencil and that worked a treat too.... but it was a little messier as I didn't spray it, but that was the look I was going for, maybe I should try it with the spray next time.

Oh yes, I think it was a cheap one from the reject shop.... and I must admit that I did go outside to spray it, just in case lol.

@lostinpaper You stay safe also! They closed are school after the first case here, then quickly the County closed all the Schools, are state step right to close down where is was needed. The Adult care facilities where hit, very little else. The city (Philly)was hit hard also. Not as bad as New York. They are stating to open up slowly this weekend. I hope it goes well!

Definitely the waiting lol. Hope you have fun with this technique, I also tried it with the rainbow stencil and that was sweet too, I thought with those thin lines it wouldn't have worked but it did!

Just loved your card today. The painting through the stencil was so effective. The colours were just amazing and the addition of the leaves really finished off the card. Apart from the Hello die cut, it's an almost one layer card but it's has the look of something so dimensional. Keep healthy and can't wait to see what you create next. Cheers Lisa

Hello GORGEOUS!! Fabulous results, Therese! I would think that water would find its way under the stencil's edges... worked a charm! Did you use a spray positioning adhesive on the stencil? xx

I have done it with and without the spray and had good result s with both. I would think that Pixie Spray would definitely help (but I can't get it at the moment here), I used a very old bottle of spray adhesive as that is all I had.

I would definitely try this again without any adhesive but for this card I used a very old tin of spray adhesive (& to make it repositionable I did a light spray and let it dry before sticking it to the paper). There is a product called 'Pixie Spray' which would have been perfect for this technique but I didn't have any at the time. @@lostinpaper Ohh you are the best 😘 I have seen other videos but the watercolor got under the stencils and I do not want that at this moment. Helas is de Pixie spray either not available or they ask absurd amount of money for it. Do you know if any adjustable spray glue works for this? Definitely going to check out the link you suggest. @@jolovesnailart The one that I used for this card is made by Helmar and it's called 'Spray Adhesive' and in Australia it's very affordable. Mine is very old, but it still worked. I just followed the instructions, did a light spray on the back and allowed it to dry before 'adhering' it to the paper. It didn't feel like it stuck very well but it actually worked fine. good luck with your project!

This is gorgeous! But can one watercolor with a stencil without using an adhesive spray? I can't get my hands on one. Maybe is I use very little water?

Yes you definitely can colour without the spray and I did it with the new Altenew rainbow stencil which has very fine lines and it worked well. I was trying for a more washy watercolour look but found that the stencil lines still stayed in place. I would recommend trying it for sure!

I know that you can use pigment inks on fabric... but I've not tried them.

Therese, I have not had great luck with pixie spray... which is surprising because I love thermo web products but no matter what I try, the backs of my stencil stay sticky and gummy. I've tried so many things UN DO and other adhesive removers. Has anyone had this problem? Am I doing something wrong or have I missed the cure for this? Therese, if you Would like a full can of pixie spray, I'd be happy to mail it to you... have you checked Amazon? There are all kinds of choices, Krylon for stencils, pixie spray, etc.... also, if anyone reads this and has a cure for removing that residual tackiness, I'd love to know your trick!!

ooh I'd never thought of that, I suppose I just thought that I would leave it sticky for next use? lol. Thank you for the offer of your bottle but I still have the 'old' stick that I decided I use up first but now I must go check what the back of the stencil is like... Have you tried a product from Elmer's called 'Sticky Out' I wonder if that would work or 'degrade' the plastic. Oh, I just remembered Tiffany Solorio recently made a video on cleaning stencils using a product called Krud Kutter... here's her video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/i7B_gpqXxtulook.html I don't think it's available in Australia, but if you are in the US? an issue for me if the remaining tackiness didn't sometimes leave marks on the paper I'm using on my next project with the stencil.....and I like to put my stencils back in their original packaging and when they're tacky, it makes it impossible. I think I tried undo and goo be gone (something like that) but I'll definitely check out Tiffany's video. Neither of my issues are deal breakers when it comes ture not using the pixie spray - It's just an OCD type thing for me, lol ! I also wanted to say that when I first started making cards about ten years ago, you were one of the first people I started watching on youtube when you worked with Purple Onion and you're still one of my favorites. We were talking the other day about if you could spend the day crafting with someone from KZfaq, who would it be? Of course I said you! I never get tired of watching your videos...
