Had to watch this vid about 6 times to finally convince myself and have the courage to wear a vest to an event and it was the BEST decision i made. i got so many great feedback on the vest which is an indigo pin striped dress vest by Ted Baker. i wore the dress pants that came with the vest, a white shirt and a red tie with an eldredge knot. thanks Alpha m. you rock!!!!

I am personally someone who wears a vest 90% of the time. No matter where I go or what I'm doing; if I leave the house - sometimes around the house - i have a vest on. The part about standing out and getting noticed, 100% gospel! Everything mentioned in this video is super solid advice. The only piece I dont agree with is the part about the belt. Do not wear a belt, please. Even with a pair of Jean's or other pants with belt loops, find and wear suspenders. Wearing suspenders in place of a belt is not ultra hipster advice. It is practical and has to do with the line of the silhouette. Wearing a belt usually will cinch the waist below the bottom of the vest, thus making your stomach stick out from your waist - even on fit guys. Suspenders pull your pants up and under the vest without cinching creating a single flowing line from the legs to the torso. It's a small detail but makes a huge difference. Also for the love of god, please make sure you get a vest that fits. Most importantly the length, waist and chest has some forgiveness to them, but the length, that has to be spot on. Basically, make sure it's long enough (and pants are high enough) that it transitions from pants to vest. You should not see any of your shirt in between. Thanks for making a great video and I hope to see more men taking the leap.

Just bought my first vest... LOVE IT!!!

I'd never considered a vest as I always thought them to be something that you only wore with a 3 piece suit & I was just a jeans & t shirt guy. I recently decided to upgrade my wardrobe to suit my age more, I'm 63. I ditched most of my t shirts except for a few polos & plain black, white & grey t shirts. I've since bought quite a few button down shirts. I have a brown suede vest my wife bought me ages ago that I only wore if we went out for dinner but now I've started wearing it for general wear & love it so much I have 4 more vests on order. Vests are cool & awesome. I even bought a pocket watch to wear with them. Glad my wife helped me discover the mighty Vest.

And there is a confidence that I feel, when I go all out vest, jeans, boots, and tie; also a nice cap! You have totally summed up my "Comfortable" going out clothes, formal, etc. I have all sorts of vests!! I just discovered you and this video today and was just THRILLED to know that there is someone out there that gets it. Thank You! I also just watched your video about Cocktail attire. Hehehehehe. Just this past Saturday, we went to a Niece's wedding. The attire said Cocktail. I had nothing; even went thrifting and couldn't find anything. So what did I do? Vest, jeans, my favorite Aldo boots and a Tie. Perfect. I mean, a few years ago, my Sister-in-law even commented one thanksgiving dinner.... "You always wear vest." This video helped me a lot. I am a 280 lb bodybuilder and a jacket is awkward and uncomfortable. I have to give speeches as part of my job and a vest allows me to move comfortably. Wearing one sets me apart from other guys and it actually does get compliments. I am going to buy a few more.

I wore a waistcoat (Dark grey with blue wool) with black shirt dark grey tie and jeans brown Chelsea boots matching belt... With long woollen coat (hey it is cold here) I had great results, a lot of positive attention and I felt comfortable wearing this... I would not have tried this combo without this video...

Great video, Aaron. After watching, I hit the buy button on a grey tweed vest with red, blue and cream accents. I like to rock the "professor" look when seeing patients. Fall and winter = corduroy, chukkas, oxford button downs and wool knit ties. I was thinking to pick up a tan, smoother material vest as well and think yours looks great. I own a few vests. Couple leathers, and a few casual western styles. One with the black back part and the rest are solid one material. I like them a lot but I’ve had very few opportunities to actually wear them. I always felt over dressed when wearing them. I want to try them out again since it’s been a year or two since I’ve worn them. The weather is about to get cold again and it seems like a good time to break them out with the long sleeved shirts.

Aaron, I'm glad you did this video. I've been wondering how to wear this outfit in a colder season. I know this would look great as in in the Fall, but in Vegas it gets really cold. I'm thinking peacoat, but I'm not too sure how that would work out. Is a blazer or suit jacket a necessity underneath the peacoat?

I like sweater vest in the winter with my semi-casual semi-formal look, especially a nice wool or cashmere blend will keep you very warm I do have some 100% cotton I like to almost as good they do wash better.

Vests according to what John Wayne said, are formal wear… a leather vest and leather cuffs, are excellent for cowboys, but are actually formal wear. Add a Scottish style shirt. You’re on your way to a great look. I like carhart carpenter pants for church… WWJD! I call this comfortable formal wear. And you look manly and handsome.
