That's funny that you say that about the wingtips. I wore a pair of worn, 4ish year old wingtips with dark denim to the mall last night and got a LOT of compliments.

Country shoes with double leather or commando soles work with jeans I think, likewise suede dress shoes. Brown is definitely better but as long as the shoes are not shiny, eg oiled/greasy leather or nubuck, and they have a bit of thickness in the soles, black could work imo.

I"m thin and short man. I notice that skinny jeans in dark wash can work very good with dark brown shoe (sorry i dont like light brown, too much contrast for me) . But the best are slim fit jeans with a little tailored leg and hem . Its more classic style .

Just skin tight jeans because dress shoes have a little more bulk to them and it will look slightly unproportional.

Sounds like it fits the look! Normally I would recommend a brown shoe with denim. But, with a black leather jacket I think it fits. -G

What about if you have thick legs (weight lifting caused this issue) and all jeans become skinny jeans. How would you handle that issue? Buy bigger for the thighs and then hem and taper at the ankle??

Kevin Curtin Hey bro, try the 541 fit from Levi's (it's called athletic fit). Personally I only wear this cut as I also have thick legs and a rather big rear. Hope it helps!

For me it comes down to having an eye for fashion, your personal taste. and following your own mind. Because even in fashion you have leaders and followers. Over the years I have lost count of the number of times I have been stopped by complete strangers including business professionals on the street and complimented on my style when it comes to fashion, especially casual dress. I am not a follower when it comes to fashion.

I always thought to wear those shoes without socks is absolutely terrible...why so many people like these kinda look...even maybe with no show socks on...its really bad look. If you want to do that why not just wear sneakers or sandals

Why would you not wear socks with your shoes?That’s a good way to get blisters and stink up your shoes.I would wear socks with dress shoes even if paired with jeans.If I was wearing boat shoes or espadrilles or more casual shoes , yeah I’d go sockless
