Ive been chasing wheelies for years on 2011 r1 power 5 and toci. This video was talking to me on a whole other level 😂 I've gotten them up to 140 shifting gears sketch af. But I've been doing them that way for so long i got comfortable in the chasing "safe zone" every time i hit balance point i let engine brake take it back down. I hover my foot over the back break but i about never use it. The one time i did it came down so hard i almost lost it. I've been terrified of the coast and brake concept for 9yrs + this video inspired me to feather it a bit ima give it a shot. I needed advanced class😂 I've been stuck in beginner for damn near a decade. But for the record 1000s of " wheelie chases" but never wrecked on one.

I was chase the wheelie dude before the rear brake came into focus in the early 2000s. I remember grabbing 6th and seeing 140 go by on the cluster. It has it's fun points... The re-contact "squid marks" from the front wheel cover the road by the end of the season... Looks like an airport landing strip.. People in the neighbor hood were like WTF? This was an a carbed 2001 R1.. Not bad. My current 03 is an animal, twitchy AF and not wheelie friendly at all - it desperately needs a tune. The low end is dead and it rips your head off at 7K up. Trying to learn this on my MT-10(year 2016 model). Did they change the Mode settings? Beacause according to my handbook 'B' is the most "sporty"-mode. A is less sport and STD(standard) is the softest mode. Been practicing getting to the balance point, starting to get the speed down but still chasing a bit. But slow and steady, no crash cage, usually practicing alone, dont really want to risk it. But I'll take your advice and practice braking more! Thanks for the vid!

Hi there! I’ve an 11 model R1. I’m using B mode, 1st gear, from very slow speed like close to 30 to try to lift it. But each time I power it enough the rear tire skids to the side. Is it because my tire is too worn out/slippery? Is getting a new tyre a primary consideration for practicing to lift it or is it my technique that’s wrong?

@kennethpowers89953 жыл бұрын
Depends on the model of bike. Most Honda and Kawi you can just get away with over filling the oil by a half qt or a tad more and you won’t run into starvation issues. Some 636s actually have the pickup to the rear from the factory, and the biggest problem I see with guys needing to do the oil pickup mods is on GSXRs, but then they just starve for oil under long stoppies now instead of long wheelies lol.

He’s probably not doing bad on fork seals. If you hammer the throttle as you’re coming down they set down very soft. If you just chop it shut and let it slam that is when you’ll need fork seals. The front comes down hard af if you don’t shift your weight back and open the throttle.
