Really appreciated this thorough video. We were able to find a “return/damaged “ part at Amazon for less than $100 that we installed to fix the F71 code. This saved us $500+! Many thanks! Note - our washing machine had minor differences in the original part requiring removal that made removal challenging. Fortunately our husband/wife team effort was successful in removing the part with no damage to the wiring.

Thank you so much for this excellent tutorial. I was able to replace the MCU on my Whirlpool Duet with no problem. Cost about $200. You saved me from needing to purchase a new washing machine and also saved a large piece of machinery from heading to the landfill.

Really appreciate this video...Probably saved me at least $400...found the part online for $260 including tax, shipping and handling. Took about 1.5 hours to take out and put in new unit.

Great video, thanks much for that. I have to say, that wire harness holder could be one of the single most idiotic design flaws I've come across in a very long time. So difficult to pry off, and so wildly unnecessary. They could have accomplished that exact same goal with a connector that pulled easily off with a squeeze connection. Absolutely no justification for using that blind locking tab approach. That stupid clip was the ONLY part of this whole job that was difficult and frustrating. Otherwise, a super simple repair.

I have a whirlpool wfw9200sq00. The other day I got a f25 erro code. I checked the connections and they were good. Metering the motor gave me 6.2 ohms across all windings. The two red wires (I believe to be tachometer) measure 117.4 ohms. This lead me to believe that the motor is fine. I disconnected the belt and both drum and motor spin free and bearings have no play. When I run the machine it works fine empty. When I put even a small load in the machine it will spin one direction half way and stop then try to spin the other way and stop again. I can turn on diagnostics (empty) and it will run through all tests no problem. My thoughts have been the mcu, but don't want to order a part that I cannot return of it doesn't fix the problem. The machine has worked flawlessly for the past few years and I don't want to buy a new one if there is an affordable fix.

After reassemble of my washer I ran another rinse/spin run with only a couple towels. With the front lower panel open, I watched through the entire cycle. When the unit stalls on a spin, it turns halfway and there is a chattering/rubbing sound, and shaking. I could not identify if it was coming from the motor, drum, or belt slipping. I cannot have my machine hooked all the way up and witness this from the back.

How can I tell if the motor still works properly and that I need this MCU unit instead of a motor or just motor brushes? I have a Kenmore Elite He4T that throws and error code F06 and will wash but will not spin.

If you have a one piece front panel, without the separate lower panel as shown here, then your MCU is in the back. You just have to remove the back panel using a 1/4" nut driver. The have a different video that shows how to do it. It won't let me post the comment with the url included, so go to their website and type in your model number. Find the MCU in the top and cabinet section of the parts. When you click on the motor control board part you can watch the repair video. it's pretty straight forward.

ok, I have one Whirlpool Duet Sport. OK heres my issue....Fails to complete wash, does not make it to rinse,I still see fabric softener in the compartment ...i have to select darn-spin. Then try to re wash in another mode. works ,then doesn't. WTF ? ? can anyone help.

Whirlpool Duet F11 error - First unplug for 30 seconds, restore power then press the pause/cancel/stop button twice to clear the last cycle in memory and the display. Try to run a cycle. If the error occurs again, unplug again and make sure all electronic connections are tight to the MCU, you can see where they are in this video. I unplugged each one and plugged back in. If still not working after that then you may one or more bad control boards or a wiring issue between the boards. After I completing those steps without change to error code, I purchased a new MCU and used this video to replace to the part.
