I was once in a 1v5 fight. Was the hardest moment of my life. Had to pour out all my knowledge of martial arts in that fight. All that blood and adrenaline rushing through my veins made me more nervous. Luckily, we beat the guy up.

I was homeless for 12 years. I've been in multiple fights for my life. Its not something any normal person would go out searching, and its frankly pretty brutal. I've been hit with fence posts and bats. I've hit with hard shit too. I'm a big guy and have hit bigger guys (340lb+) and have a dent in my skull and a lot of wins under my belt. Not really proud of it actually. Either way, yeah, knives are usually involved, not so much guns less you into the drug game a lil serious.

Best tip I can give is stay calm... adrenaline is going to start doing its thing for you and the other guy as well, no matter how tough he seems to be. If you control your breathing and temper and he doesn't you already have a huge advantage. If you're calm and cool and he's not, you'll see his punches coming from a mile away.

I do question the validity a bit? Only due to the lack of explanation behind WHY you DO rip your shirt off during a fight! I have older brothers that were known for being feared as teens, as they got into it so much. They always told me that guys rip their shirt off so that the other guy cannot get a funny grip on your shirt and easily toss you/swing you by it. Although it can be viewed as a peacock-like strategy, that's not it. You're basically giving the guy string and rope to yank you around. Skin to skin is much tougher. Edit: OH!!! Nevermind.. I was commenting too soon, I think.. It was kind of explained here in the end.. I was typing this but I noticed he said he would use the other guy's shirt to pull in. Maybe they did touch on this.

I’m 5 foot nothing and a few years ago I was caught in a situation very similar to this demonstration where my attacker was much taller than me and I thought that this exact, same, headbutt option would resolve the situation quickly. Well, while I did manage to knock my attacker to the ground with the single headbutt, I also managed to walk away with a massive cut to the top of my head (that later required 11 stitches) from where I struck the top set of teeth in his opened mouth. With executing the upward motion (for shorter people) of this particular headbutt, you will not be able to predict whether your attackers mouth will be open, whether you’re heading (no pun intended) straight for his chin or whether you’re about to cause damage to his nose. I personally do not recommend this move to ending a street fight.

going for the groin is another good strategy yes. We want to end the fight in one punch or kick. Kicking the groin is better than kneeing it. I actually go for the groin or a punch to the neck, both will immobilise. But the video is right, the most common way a street fight is won is the headbutt to the nose. In most cases the guy who gets headbutted has his nose broken and gives up. So be very aware of your opponent doing the headbutt on you. I tend to protect my face from headbutt by diagonal arms crossed in front of my head, like iron man protecting his face when his helmet has been smashed off.

I have to say something. Most street altercations happen around booze and boozed up people. Stay away from alcohol related business and practice, and you eliminated a very high percentage of having any altercations. Lol the art of fighting without fighting. If your partying it up...well you already know and have accepted the road well traveled and you know what your going to see. @VinylRecordsCareEtc Not correct, sir. I find myself regularly being forced to lay an absolute monstrous beat-down on this big green dinosaur sitting in my living room. Most times he's giving me the "Side Eye" look to provoke me, maybe he'll try to eat one of the cats; other times he just decides to have a go at me like he was a REAL Tyrannosaurus Rex! The strikes & method of attack vary, but the end result is the same: upside down, stuffed halfway into the couch cushions with trying to get his his little arms wrapped around his giant head. Goldblum would agree: Never let your guard down around a dinosaur! They live to fuck you up. :-D Joking aside: ideally, by having developed good situational awareness you can recognize the signs that a situation is deteriorating & leave before shit goes sideways. However, we live in reality, where that isn't always possible. For those cases, paying attention to & understanding a person's body language is important, because most of the time there will be indicators, which if paid attention to, will help you identify when someone's going to attack & be ready for it. Again, that may not always be possible. So here's a tip you don't usually get: Learn to get hit! Sounds crazy, right? It's really not, especially considering the real danger of being caught off guard by the go-to move of every bitch-boy that's ever lived: the sucker punch. A lot of people will tell you "try not to get hit," and it's sound advice except when it doesn't work. So learn to "take a punch" so to speak. Don't go picking fights with random douche bags, cause that's only a good way to get fucked up. We want to avoid that. So, find a friend or someone that you trust, get some basic protective gear & wake up your inner masochist! If you make it a point to learn what it's like to get hit on your own terms before an attack happens, you'll likely have better odds. It's essential that you combine the tool of strike survival with real self defense training. They go hand in hand, of course, just don't overlook the importance of being able to shrug off strikes, when it might be something you don't have much of a choice about. Incorporating it into your development (especially if it's something you've learned before going in) of combatives makes your development a bit smoother & helps with confidence as you grow. Use common sense & again, SOMEONE YOU TRUST if you learn outside of conventional defense classes. It's how I learned: I learned the basic fighter's stance & the mechanics & physics involved with using your body as a weapon. But before getting into striking, I learned how to get struck. I admit, it wasn't that fun at first, but damn if it wasn't every bit as useful as learning how to box was in terms of the fundamental basic skill set which you build upon & expand.

to get a headbutt you need to be very close what if hes walking up to you aggresive and then throws a massive right hand before you even have chance to set up the headbutt lol, this really teaches nothing, coz when you can't do it, ur fucked if this is all you know... Learn a combat sport, not a 1 trick move, you should have good footwork and headmovement, good punching technique/combinations, be able to counter, most people who instigate a street fight dont want to actually fight, they just want to hit you, they have no intention on trading punches, it's why you see so many sucker punches, they just want to knock you out, your plan shouldnt be to wait for them to come up to you and then throw your one trick, theplan should be when they coming from a distance to get in your stance there and then and let them know its on, so you know where you stand, either that or dont get into one at all, if you cant fight, dont bother trying any of this, just walk away or run if you have to, you dont have to take a beat down to be a "man" protect urself first over ur ego, I mean ur ego aint worth shit if you cant fight regardless, taking a beat down isnt much better for ur ego than walking away and if this shit bothers you so much then learn a combat sport, coz if you go in there thinking this 1 trick will work and you get ur ass beat, its ur fault 100%

First always try to avoid the fight. Never get surrounded. Never throw the first punch unless they are putting you into a position where you feel for your safety, other wise you cannot use self defense if it goes to court. If you cannot avoid the fight, try to keep your distance. Make them reach for you, when they do look for an opening and aim for the temple next to either eye on the side of the head. This will give you the chance of knocking them out in one punch, and will also mess up their vision. If they try to grab you, again try to push them off you and back up. If they grab and pull you, go with the flow. Let them pull you in, as you are being pulled in, try to duck while at the same time throwing hard swings upwards where you think their head is. This will almost always win the fight, and discourage them. If you are scared of getting kneed to the face, then grab their hand from the side as hard as you can, and pull them towards you and downwards to either side. This will cause them to fall under alot of pain, if they go down you can kick him in the head, or just back up again. If they try to tackle you, just back up and push down wards with both hands. Also the head butt is a terrible idea, you risk injuring yourself and it will almost always miss unless they are extremely close to you or just really stupid. Any questions just ask, i learned most of what i know from combatives training in the military. I was level 2 before i got out. But i also took some muay thai after i got out. I spent years sparring in the octagon on fort drum, learned alot from it all. Best thing to do to prepare your self, is practice with a buddy. Grapple/wrestle, try moves, maybe spar alittle. You can spar with out getting hurt, set rules like no punching in the face, throat, groin, or any dirty moves such as eye scraping, ball hitting etc. Just keep it friendly, body punches, grapple moves, and submissions. Doing this will allow you to feel more confident, and move comfortable with your fighting ability. But always remember, always try to avoid the fight at all costs. There is no reason to fight if you do not have to.

Thanks Reaper! I actually do have a question. Could you explain tackle defense a bit more. I notice that big dudes who are untrained usually always go for the bear hug or midline tackle in street fights which I have no clue how to defend against. As of now, I assume that I would simply try to sidestep or backstep and fire an uppercut or knee to face, but I imagine in the split second I would have to get the shot perfect. I was taught to sprawl in bjj, but I'm assuming if the dude has 30 pounds on me his momentum would fold me sprawling or not. Any tips? I need to iron this fear out of me 🤣

@@nicksmith6629 Exactly, if 3 or 4 guys team up on you, and you feel isolated, in case you should be empty handed, then quickly grab a useful object you're able to reach, use it with aggressive force (and damage em' as much can) - Many years ago I got life sentence in prison (which only is 16 years in my country). I was member in a MC club back then, and one late night I got a call from a prospect who said that two of our members had seen 4 members from the biggest rival club we were in war with, just had walked into our favorite bar, I said I would be there in 10 minutes, and told the prospect to tell the two brothers to meet me 20 meters from the bar, and make sure the rivals didn't leave. When I arrived the brothers wasn't there, and the street was empty, so I just thought they probably inside and walked into the bar with a screwdriver in my pocket, insideI quickly knew my brothers wasn't there, but the 4 rivals was, they noticed me I already stood less than a half meter from the little table and said "Does any of you fat midgets know, that FAGGOT's ain't welcome here". They seemed pretty stunned, but one of the guys responded "Are you stupid, or do you just have a death wish", I asked "A death wish!" and while he slowly lifted his butt from the chair he said "yeeeeah, a DEATH wish" and was almost up from the chair, when I without warning stabbed him two times targeting his head, the first stab hit his throat and was fatal, the second in his chin, the guy next to him tried to stand as well but pushed hia chair away so I had to jump to be on top of him, it worked and was able to stab him 3 to 4 times in his torso, before I felt another member crawl on my back and tried to pull me away, I kept stabbing anyway. After few seconds I got on my feet with the guy still on my back, I shook him off of me, stabbed him one time, and left the bar... 2 Died, 1 mature injuried... 1 Escaped the scene, his identity is still unknown today!
