The root cause of 9/10 of your losses will be lack of communication. If there is no grouping meta at the start of the game - try and be that person that reinforces that idea. I know a lot of people aren't going to like this video, because encouraging people to /afk out of games isn't exactly helpful towards winning. But in my experience the majority of the games that I have advised you should leave are VERY rarely redeemable. I used to really dislike AV when there were so many 1 hour + hopeless games, so I removed those from the equation, and it become a lot more enjoyable. This is coming from a standpoint of i want rep and im done - which like it or not, is the reason many people are in AV. Also, when I say /afk. I dont mean literally go afk, or go fishing. Typing /afk will instantly port you out of the BG and give you a 15min desert debuff. The goal is to leave games that are likely losses to play more competitive games.

Since January, ive kept track. 1-221. I have won 1 match in 2020. (I stopped counting after 221) 1. Fucking. Match. Won

I'm on the Alliance an I haven't won a single av since a week after av launched.

There's plenty of good advice in here but it leaves out really important facts. 1) Alliance must get a graveyard south of SH before SH is lost. This is damn near impossible to do, but somehow alliance must do it. The horde literally have a 5m advantage because all they need to do is cap SH before you get one flipped, and they'll win. If you're trying to hold position without SH, the best I can tell you is to revive using the spell since no one can run back. If you're reviving at SP... you're already lost because you can't reinforce the front from this far a distance, and it's with the enemy raid in the way. SF can provide a safety net but it too is attached to a 5m flip timer. 2) If you somehow get IB blue, you're making progress, but now you must duplicate your success because you need to do the same thing again. You need another graveyard further south before losing IB. If you lose IB before this point, your offense is over unless you can recap IB under 5m, probably by charging it from SF. One way or the other, holding IB is your lifeline, and horde will hammer it for the rest of the match to take it away. You should always have several people standing right here until a new graveyard further south is blue. 3) FW you should probably just skip because it's right outside the horde cave. That's the worst place to be. The horde base is also awfully designed and allows you to simply run past most NPCs... so do exactly that and go right for RH. Horde base is basically undefendable once RH is tagged and recall spot is camped. Hold the last graveyard until it's blue, clear the towers, then you're ready to start war masters/drek. It's very important NOT to lose IB until you have a 2nd graveyard blue. If you lose IB while waiting for one of these... your entire offense is sent back up the map and you'll probably never get another opportunity to win.

Alliance instead of going right--GO LEFT and cap Iceblood graveyard and get towers before going to last boss Drek. 100% running mount wait for slower 60% mounts and stay together.

Another well done video WillE! Unfortunately for the Alliance, it seems like most Alliance teams I meet, believe going for Galv and and then trying to honor farm at IB GY is the best outcome and they just stay there and drag the game out. As pointed out in your video this is just a terrible idea since Horde normally keeps them locked at IB GY, sometimes without them even capping IBT or TP, while we zoom up and take the whole base. I play Horde myself so of course I am happy with what resembles close to a 90 % win rate after a 45 minute queue, but good lord it must be infuriating queuing up and having the whole game go sideways and the next, and the next, and the 10 or so after that... Hope to see you on the battlefield some day :-)

That's easy, first find 39 other players that want to play to win then group up and play.

I’ve been doing AV regularly for the past 2 months, and I only remember losing one game (out of maybe 50 games). I zoned into a losing game where the alliance spawned their boss and were already pushing past IBGY and holding that choke. It was like the opposite of what usually happens. I was in the twilight zone that day.

I've won several games where we rallied enough people up to actually want to try and work together. The main thing that gets in the way of that is pessimistic people not wanting to put in effort, rep farmers who are only there for a quick loss and some rep, and AFKers… It's very discouraging but it's fun when Alliance actually tries to win.

How to make use of /afk? I've seen that mentioned a couple of times

If the game is lost you might wanna consider waiting until the druids are up then /afk out.

A few points to add: 1. You can reset archers by capping the tower and running out of aggro range. If there are no targets for the archers they will despawn. 2. Cap hut before Frostwolf GY. The entire path to Hut from FW is a massive choke and horde north will be waiting on FW to be capped before recalling back. Get a 5 man squard down to Hut when you only have 1 min left on IB tower or TP tower. 3. If you are not being farmed, always cap/softcap snowfall. 4. Always prio capping Graveyards over towers. Otherwise you risk the game and further honor for usually 198 honor. Edit: Added nr. 4

It is definitely different than the old days, I remember AV was difficult for the Horde to win because the bunkers are better defended that the towers and that damn bridge at the end meant that if the Horde did win it took us forever to get across the bridge.

Blizzard: lets place Horde cave half the way from mid so they are faster then the alliance...

Since many don't seem to know this... One solo Rogue can remove the archers in FW from both towers... the left one just sealth up cap and restealth, archers will despawn. the right one you run up vanish, cap and restealth and the same, they will despan. Only thing that needs to be true for this to work is that none of the arechest can be agro on anything, so send a solo rogue up there asap to remove the archers, that's one headache gone from the push. The same can be done with the other towers but is much harder since they have an officer guarding, the officer needs to get sapped before the cap for this to work there.

Faction Change is easier and a sure thing.

It is funny, back when I did the AV grind I always told people to cap Ice Blood GY, and no one did. They all wanted to either cap the IceBlood tower first or do the rush strategy. It's nice to see that alliance have a some what good chance to wins games now.

The big problem with alliance is they are more timid than horde and aren't using brute force to beat the horde. In their mind they believe they can't win a fight against the horde. Once you start man handling the horde and not just try to win the game it gets easier.

I have 3 60 alliance toons all exalted with AV. I have not once fought or even got to see the warmasters let alone Drek and I'm starting to fear I will never get to see Classic Drek and that really bums me out plz Bliz fix this!

Win Av? Have 10 players do the objectives. How Av on Alliance side feels: 12 afk in the starting cave 5 in the harpycave farming exp and leeching 7 fishing around 10 getting farmed at SH 4 grinding in the middle 1 desperatly spaming tactics with no one willing to follow And you. Its better than in January where you always started games with 3- 10 people max and sometimes never even had 40 people when vandar died. Still think everyone should have a queue of at least 5 mins so that afk people at least aren't as frequently.

Idk man; horde player here. IF we lose AV; its mostly bc our communication breaks down after a surge of panic. Of the like 7 losses Ive experienced overall; 5 started with alliance rushing SF. Once we feel flanked while attacking sh; the forces start to split up and scatter. If you manage to have some handful at sh just deffing as valorous as they can; while the rest rushes SF and rains down hell from above....the horde will become a crazed chicken swarm. The second your defending pals to the east report either a) were holding them back successfully or b) there are 30 rushing in You abandon SF; and carve your way diagonally through FoS to IB. After that; its gonna be either a grind; or a rush to kill General, depending on horde deciding to either defend or rush (if they try both without IB theyll fail) Idk...this may not be helpful; but my advice is: surprise them. If you manage to get SF and hold it at the very start; you have already evened out the starting disadvantages imo.

July 2020, Alliance pretty much has a 3% win rate at this point in AV, its just embarrassing.

I need to get another account and roll a Horde if only to see WTF the Horde are doing in AV. I swear to god, it's like they are using teleportation Hacks or something. For example, we attack Frostwolf and we can kill literally 20 horde in seconds... yet there is no lul (from them having to run from the closet graveyard in back) and there always 40 horde there Horde there no matter how many we kill. We eventually die and res our closest graveyard. And as they retake FWGY , there are already 40 Horde already attacking our GY. I mean WTF.

As a horde player. I haven’t lost a game since they made the alliance premade patch. So it’s been awhile... don’t understand why alliance even ques for AV. Even with the afk’ers getting banned it’s not hard to stomp alliance out.

On NA servers IB pushes have only succeeded when the Horde had SF GY, otherwise they just ress at their cave over and over again and whittle us down, while our guys pull LTs in to ensure that healers will OOM.

I get your warlock advice, but feel like you should at least dot up any rogues, druids, or hunters you see. Rogues mostly to negate vanish, druids so they can't run out of combat and stealth without retreating far enough that they won't contribute to the team, and hunters because they're going to try and run and kite you anyway. BTW, did you track your AV wins/losses with an addon?

Heres why there is a horde bias: back in 05 etc was the time of lord of the rings etc. Alliance were dominant on most servers, everyone wanted to be a legolas or a gimley, Blizzard willfully made the horde pvp racials insanely overpowered. Will of the forsaken used to have a 30 sec duration, orc stun resist is just the most broken thing ever play a stun class on alliance. You could put the garbage troll racials on alliance and most tryhards on ally would pick them cause thats how nutty the horde racials are. Still alliance were dominant for numbers. Im curious to see what happens for classic Burning crusade cause the same stuff happens there. Draenei are flat out terrible in terms of lore, aesthetics, pvp viability and the horde get fking bloodelf chads with an aoe interrupt on classes that dont even get them. BE Pallies get seal of blood which is 20% better than command for dmg, it would be like alliance space goat shaman getting some chainlightning that didnt lose dmg on jumps. But were playing a game whose balance choices were to fix the game population. Something to think about.

I pretty much never lose AV as Horde. The hard part are the 2 hour queues.

As an horde i win every single av i play. The only time the alliance have a chance, is when they capturate IBGY. When they have that one, if the horde dont have a good defense, the alliance with a good push should win. There is when is a race for the horde and we go all north with a few stay in base defending. The horde have so many moments to win AV, and the alliance make so many mistakes also. Sorry my english sucks :p

Prior to rerolling horde I thought surely there must be some mastermind strategists leading the horde AV team - having played many games as horde now, there is literally zero communication in chat, they just seem to understand you cap GYs and defend points as opposed to alliance who tend to try to solo the whole BG.

That's why winning as Alliance is more difficult. Specially with full 40man pug. Alliance need to think in order to win. Horde on the other hand just zug zug for sh and just push straight forward

The biggest disadvantage alliance have is their own moral... so the map might favour horde but its not a insurmountable advantage I won 3 or 4 AV's in a row when getting my rep when alliance actually tried and stayed tight together, alliance don't seem to understand the whole over extending and getting picked off one by one meta of large number pvp

i tried to win ONLY one game as alliance 51 lvl pally (for the polearm).Did everything i could,healing,cleansing,using nades to protect the stronger healers(the only 2 we avrg had for 40 people) etc.6 hrs later i gave up. To be honest i will not bother with AV again even when 60.I play pvp to win not farm rep for the rewards like pve heroes do...Probably joined the wrong faction lol (again).

here is a good exampel of what 99% of all PUG avs as alliance go first: noone takes lead second: raid splits before balinda on the left: people get wiped at sh bunker by horde on right: 50% get wiped before sf and the rest at galv lts SH gy already lost everyone spawns SP and starts to turtle first at chockepoint before sh and then at sp after 1hr, and about 200 kill honor, horde gets into base and idiots realize they should have killed a few lts but its already too late profit

The only way Alliance can "win" AV, is to never queue in the first place.

the most efficient strat to win is pray to RNGesus you will be matched up against Russians and then you rush straight to hut just as they rush straight to aid station - sometimes you win, sometimes you don't, still a 10m game

I play both Horde and Alliances. I would say Horde win 85% of the time, but that's okay because they got 1-2hours queues. But I remember when AV just came out. It was like the other way around alliance won 85% of the time. But AB/WSG is won 99% of the time by premades on alliance side.

Im just farming rep for a dagger. Once I go south I kill and skin 25 wolves, go die, corse run to gy near ram pen rez, hand in and leave.

Video is a bit dated for the current AV Meta. Alliance players should currently be looking to stall and farm kills+turn ins at Stonehearth GY. Holding the horde there and collecting turn ins is the best rep/hr. You'll need at least one person holding druids to allow crystal turn ins to be available for the whole match. Don't extend to IBGY or SFGY, and don't try to win. I know that sucks to hear, but the map is so stacked against alliance currently that it just isn't worth it without a premade. 3-4k rep/match is easily possible if you just farm turns in and don't get greedy.

Yo Wille normally big fan of your videos but I think this is just plain bad advice for alliance players. The ugly truth is that Alliance are simply going to lose a LARGE majority of their games. If people take your advice and /afk out of every game that goes wrong from the start... SF GY lost to horde, wiped at SHGY, etc... then they will be caught in the endless loop of queue, /afk, repeat. To be honest, Alliance have it BETTER than horde right now thanks to the 2 hour + queue times. Losing games in 20-45min is FAR better marks per hour than the horde get. Best advice is to stop expecting to win, try to farm HKs and do your turn ins, but most importantly DONT leave games looking for the perfect scenario for a win. Grind it out and exalted will happen.
