Thanks so much! It was something that occurred to us to mention late. These starter decks are built with parity in mind, I’m always amazing at how these little things can make a difference in a game.

I love Starter decks that theme so attractively to new players yet also kind of telegraph how you can upgrade them. New players with this deck should automatically be able to notice the usefulness of cost reduction and establishing a wider board. This lends itself directly into the most consistent Amber strategies AND the flavorful choice (other puppies) will organically help the strategy as well. Bravo 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Do you offer script writing services? Because that was so well said! Completely agree with you that all the starters are always so well designed. It’s a careful balance not to introduce many new cards and concepts to players all while making a deck that can perform well and win games. And I think they nailed it with this one!

@@Illumiteers lol thanks for the compliment, but for every good line like that, I’ve said 40 others that are a jumbled mess. 😅 I think the appeal and “onboarding” ability for new players is something we often overlook as experienced Lorcana players. We see reprints of commons from previous sets and may eye roll, but those cards aren’t really for us. Sometimes they could be filler, but usually they are a choice to ease in an interaction. Your video was great! I feel like that new player or “dabbling player” audience should find this information extremely useful.

@Illumiteers I played this deck and did well but I lost a game cuz I shifted Pluto out on turn 4 and it got dragonfired right away.

@@westbergcomedy Ooph. Yeah…that’s rough. There are only two Dragon Fires in the other deck, so, bad luck. Sometimes your opponent has the answers… But it sounds like the right play to me. If he had stuck, I’ll bet he would have won you the game. What do you think?

Think the dream play is to drop pluto turn 3, then turn 4 tap him to reduce cost by 1 and then shift into bodyguard pluto for 4. You'll have a monster of an advantage at that point.

Thanks a lot for these videos. I'm looking to get started in Lorcana and I'm still unsure if a Starter Deck is the way to go. I'm more interested in Amethyst/Steel, Sapphire/Steel ink combinations, but wonder whether Starters are the most cost-efficient way of building a viable deck. In any case, keep it up guys!

Thanks so much for watching! The starter decks are definitely a great way to learn to play and to understand the mechanics. As far as being a cost efficient means to build a competitive deck, well, they CAN be, but only if you are leaning a certain direction. And in this case, lemon/lime (Amber Emerald Bounce). Is likely the direction you would take this starter. With the ink combinations you mentioned, I think I would start to look at lists that appeal to you and work on singles for those decks. Now…we will never say that starters are a bad option - they are relatively affordable and really help you understand the game. Anyway, send us an email or message - happy to discuss further. Oh dear! Good question. I think they call all be good, depending on how you pilot them. However, I think my favorite one is season one’s Amethyst / Amber starter. It comes with Friends and has some cool combos to play. Probably my all time favorite starter!
