How to WIN the 2024 Wildlife Event: Strategies + Guide | Forge of Empires

The Wildlife Event returns as the first event of 2024 in Forge of Empires! It brings with it the same pop blocks minigame as before, similar to a Candy Crush style of game. As you pop blocks and drop paws to the bottom of the board, plenty of prizes will be possible to be picked up, including the brand new Flamingo Habitat, Alligator Swamp, Tapir Trails, Raccoon Hideout, Giant Kapok, and Blood Lilies, on top of old favorites like the Panda Shrine, Mountain Reserve, and Animal Crossing, too!
In this video, I go over what you need to know before the event starts, from whether the Flamingo Habitat is possible for free, to the best strategies you'll need to use to get it! This event also brings with it three mini challenges... you have been warned.

Hey all - I realized late in editing that I forgot to talk about the golden tickets. You'll get a few of these from the questline, and they'll let you play as many games as you can in 5 minutes. Use these to get tons of paws! Just focus on dropping paws and ignore reward boxes, and click as fast as possible! Good luck in the event :)

I competed the one mini challenge weve seen so far and am motivated to complete the once in this event because...i was largely inactive for last years Wilderness event and was kicking myself when I saw the Panda event building I didn't get maxxed. I'm also curious how the upgrade looks/what it does for the crossing as I have one of those maxxed in my city. I have never been good at this minigame and it frustrates me very much even tho I was good at Tetris back in the day. So, I am thinking I am going to depend on the mini challenge to maximize on this event. I will be definitely looking for your vid on that

7:25 Re the Mini Challenge events: in Beta it was not necessary to fully COMPLETE the Rival events during the 48-hour time limit. However, you could get fairly decent rewards (extra tickets) by doing PART of the challenge questline, at a much lower cost and difficulty than trying to complete the last few quests of the challenge. Pay attention to what the milestones and quests reward you with, when the challenge appears (probably on the 2nd-4th Tuesdays during the Wildlife event). Inno made some additional changes after the Beta event ended, so we don't know exactly what to expect re rewards and quest, but it is worth trying to at least do PART of each challenge. Fully completing the challenge events requires a lot of preparation (saving up coins, tools, and ticket quests to use during the challenge) as well as good luck and possibly diamonds.

I'm a little fuzzy on event quest management and the tickets they deliver in relation to the mini-challenges; do the challenges appear to all players at the same time (I read somewhere it was every Tuesday), or are they inserted at specific points within the event questline itself? There are 60 such quests, correct? At the moment I spend ticket just prior to when the 4th 'timer-generate' ticket pops (and allow space for two to generate overnight), and have another ready in the event questline (I think I've done about 10 so far).

Yes, the challenges appear for all players on the server at the same time.

After the latest balancing update, GP progress should be adjusted right? Because we only need 25 paws for a GP, the progression should be 25-50-75-100 etc.

Well, you get a ticket every 3 quests, so you've got to budget from there. I'm giving myself a lot of wiggle room to complete the mini challenges since we don't know yet exactly what the quests will be.

Well, I've played through 6 or 7 mini-game boards thus far and only was able to snag 19 paws, even with the help of a couple hammers. The 'live' version seems to be a bit more stingy on these than the Beta. Addendum: Intensely frustrating. I just played a level where the incongruity of the blocks in the bottom two rows made it impossible to get any paws without using the free 'row remover.' Even then, with twelve moves left I was unable to drop any of the remaining three paws or five chests on the board. Highly unlikely at this rate that I'll get either the Flamingo or Panda habitats without spending actual cash to get them, which was probably the plan from the start.

Remember that it's only the start of the event, and it should average out as you play more games.

@@UBERnerd14 - Well after 17 games I'm still averaging just over 3 per game. I've got one right now sitting at the start with 5 paws on the board; only one can be retrieved without using boosters; too many bottom 'singletons' with no possible pairs in adjacent columns.

How should I use my wildlife selection kits? Panda shrines? Or animal crossings? Currently have 5 and I'm going for more.

Depends on what other kits you have, what you want in your city, and what will actually fit in your city.

@@UBERnerd14 and probably what's available. For example a lvl 9 crossing is nearly useless,but a serene crossing is worth the space. Just not sure it's more effective than a shrine.

Event Mini Challenges…do I need to be in Iron Age to open up Daily Challenges? or can I do that in Bronze Age%?

It's not a daily challenge. I'd assume it unlocks with events, but I'm honestly not sure. Generally though, there's not much reason to sit in the bronze age :)

Will the raccoon hideout being placed cause my traz to make rogues like a normal hideout would?

No. The Alcatraz only produces units based on the barracks you've got in your city (ie, the buildings where you can produce attached units).

will it be possible for free player to get to silver league? assuming not wasting any ticket and play the mini game ok-ish? since everyone will use diamond to push to gold league, will it make silver pretty hard for free player no? this will decide whether or not I go for animal crossing, in not possible I will go for eagle mountain

Still go for animal crossings! You get one gold upgrade for free from the grand prizes. But as per silver league, I'm not sure. It's definitely possible, depending on your world, but I can't say for certain.

How do we know when a Mini Challenge presents itself? Is it within the normal questline window for the event series? Also, how does one win the Daily Special?

1. When it does, 2. It shows up as another tab in the quest window (instead of just Story, Daily, and Event, there will be a "Rival" tab). 3. From dropping reward boxes down to the bottom. Each box has a chance at winning the daily special.

Mini Challenge will have an additional questgiver while active. Based on Beta, the three mini-challenge events (each lasting 48 hours) will PROBABLY start on the same day as GE (Tuesday), with the first one appearing a week after the Wildlife event begins. That said, Inno may decide to vary things up a bit; the timing of these extra events is just a guess.

@@RJDarvon Yes, Daily specials are always RNG. However, you can improve your chances by creating larger Chests (from larger groupings of tiles of the same colour), and more chests of course, and ensuring that you get them to the bottom of the screen. If you are focused on getting PAWS to the bottom of the screen, you may end up collecting fewer chests, so there is a trade-off between grand prize progress and getting more daily specials. Very roughly, in the Fall event you could expect to get up to one daily special every SECOND minigame. Overall, this works out to up to 55 daily specials during the event, which is quite a lot. YOUR total of daily specials will vary a lot based on luck, how many games you play, how well you play, and your tactical goals (Paws vs chests) in each game of course.

@@davidbarry6900 - Thanks much for your thoughts on that. I would guess that if one really wants a given daily special it would be a good time to use a Golden Ticket if available. And it sounds like if your goal is to get the Flamingo Habitat, Paws is the way to go.

It's possible. You'd need 9 kits, which is a lot, but assuming you get a few kits when the animal crossing or epic kit show up as daily specials, and then again if you get those kits as swaps, you might be able to.

The golden upgrade for animal crossing is only available as silver league reward right? If so then it's be quite hard since everyone will push for gold, so silver will be quite hard to get?

Well actually, it was 600 progress, then they rebalanced some things, and now it's at 550.

Let me add please. That is not cool for Inno to do it that way. It is not like they have a limited amount of inventory. I also see this is not a good business move for them. If we knew a number we might buy to make sure we hit that number. I will not spend blindly. That is foolish

As Ubernerd14 said, the best option is to buy packs of 10 event tickets (and play the minigames immediately) if you want to spend diamonds. I'd recommend doing so only on days with a very good daily special though - and when you have enough time to play a bunch of minigames. Also buy more tickets if you are going for Gold League. There isn't really any need to spend diamonds otherwise, and getting a second max level building from the event will probably cost around 20k diamonds (or buying the event pa$$ prize lists of course), which seems a bit steep. Some diamond spending may be needed to COMPLETE the mini challenge events, if you really want to do that. In Beta it was not necessary to actually complete mini challenges - you could get a lot of benefits from only completing PART of the challenge events. In the live event, there have been some further changes made to quests and rewards (including buildings?), so challenge events MIGHT be worth completing - albeit only if you are prepared and can afford spending all the required coins, tickets, and tools.
