Pick 3 are hard . You need alot of time to handicap it three races in a row I usually just stick with each race at a time. With a tri box bet and superfecta box bet . Don't be afraid to box your horses some times

Yeah gradually build-up to this type of wager if you are interested. Nothing wrong with sticking to win betting. As with all wagers, might try just playing on paper first before actually wagering on a real Pick 3 until you get the hang of it.

Hi Mark. I think it mainly comes from a psychological perspective more people will begin a Pick 3 or double, pick 4 etc by singling or including a favorite to be "on the safe side" Therefore you will have more tickets including those combinations which includes or singles the same favorites. The more tickets that have the same cominbations of horses(the same numbers) then the less it pays. For instance I was fortunate enough to hit the late Pick 4 at Keeneland last Friday on Future Stars Friday as part f the Breeders Cup. It paid over $3000 for 50 cents increments and $6000 for $1 increments. I feel the reason it paid that much is because I spread in the first 2 races of the sequence and found some nice longshot prices. The last two races were logical horses. Only one of the 4 races had a favorite win and that was the 3rd leg. I hope this makes sense but to sum up more people probably start their tickets and have the same combinations and use the favorite early on than those who don't. Thanks!
