Thanks for the information :) Do we have to write the personal information in essay format?
@rroca

They don’t specify the format so, it doesn’t have to be in essay format, but that’s certainly how I would do it. I think it’s just easier from a storytelling perspective

On the main screen in Playgrounds, right click on your playground’s thumbnail, then click “show in finder”, right click on the file and select “compress”, that’s the zipped file you need to send them. If you have any external resources you want to zip with your playground then copy the playground file to some folder with the other stuff in the same folder and zip the folder. Good luck! 😊

I was wondering if there was a place to submit a link to a youtube video to supplement our wwdc submission this year; because I found that on the github repository (linked below), people had video linked in a chart. Also, when submitting our typed responses do we have to tell the story of how we built our playground or just the technologies involved? Thank you so much! github.com/wwdc/2020
@rroca
@rroca 3 жыл бұрын
No, this github is community driven, not something related to Apple, some people like to put their submissions on KZfaq and they collect those and put it there, but there is nowhere in Apple's site to send a KZfaq video and you don't need to make one unless you want to easily show your playground to friends or just share it in general. Btw, If you do decide to make a video to show it off, only post it after the April 18th deadline to make sure no one tries to copy it.

As I said in the videos, in my view storytelling in the playground itself and in the written responses are extremely important. They don’t require you to write an essay, you can do a few bullet points with the features and call it a day, but I think a well written essay with beginning, middle and end with the story of why you picked that theme, why you are passionate about it and the story of how you created a playground around it will give you a much better chance of winning than doing the other way

Hi!! Thanks for the video idea, I'll work on that but might not be able to post quickly enough so, here are some resources to get you started while that video doesn't come: - This post has some tips to get you started and also some resources linked at the bottom of the post - www.freecodecamp.org/news/how-to-make-something-with-swift-playgrounds-33e560b84184/ - In my Q&A video from last year I also give a very basic introduction on how to create a playground in Xcode and in the Swift Playgrounds app for Mac (the iPad app is identical, so the tips apply there as well) - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iMCWndKnnbu5go0.html

hey, so I have a question regarding the mailing address. I dunno where I am gonna be in June. I may be in one of two different countries. So can I provide an address for my home and let my roommate pick it up as I won't be there in June? and should I include this info in the comments section?
@rroca
@rroca 3 жыл бұрын
Hey! I’d send to whatever address is your main address, your home, even if that means getting your prize only after you return, but at least you can be sure it will be there safe waiting for you. Better than sending to where you are traveling to and then it arrives after you returned or something else happens and you never get it. I don’t think including it in the comments will make any difference, Apple will send it to whatever address is given and whether there will be someone there to receive it or not is on you. Good luck with the submission!!

Just to be clear, I’m guessing based on the fact that it seems to work like anything that would be shipped to you if like when buying online for example. But both times I won the prize was the trip to WWDC and that didn’t include shipping anything to my address, so I’m not speaking from personal experience in this aspect

Hello, I am a 14-year-old developer who wants to apply for the WWDC swift student challenge. My question is regarding the, "Be registered for free with Apple as an Apple developer or be a member of the Apple Developer Program", requirement. I use my dad's full developer account for publishing apps on the app store, but I also have a personal developer account. Which account should I use when applying. Please reply as soon as you can, thanks!
@rroca
@rroca 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! You should use your personal developer account, not your dad’s, your school documents will be in your name, so if the name in the account is your dad’s name that could be a problem. Good luck, let me know how it goes :)

Yes, that is ok, you can use Xcode playgrounds instead of the swift playgrounds app. To create the zip file with the playground inside just right click on the playground file icon and select "Compress" in the menu. Good luck on your submission!

How many words did you use to describe your playground?
@rroca
@rroca 3 жыл бұрын
Just looked it up, used 491 in my essay, but please don't take that to mean you need to write something long, quite the opposite really, if you are able to do good storytelling with beginning middle and end in a more concise manner, that's probably better. If you need to make It longer like I did, no problem, but don't make your story worse by rambling just to hit a certain word count. Good luck on your submission!
