@@BigIslandMNMinnetonka Thank you, it's been great so far but I am having and issue with my Mercruiser 3.0 Sterndrive (prior to 1991, with digital distributorless system) ROUGH idle and stalls out. Will not idle for longer than a second and has to have RPMs behind it to run then risk a stall when I try to go in gear forwardor reverse. Did a full tune up at the beginning of this year (thanks for your help with that) but its still been giving me issues. Any idea what I can do to remedy and get her RELIABLE and running?

soooo one must make sure to use JUST polyg antifreeze and not coolant right? Would my local autopart store have just polyg antifreeze? Seems like most carry eth antifreeze/coolant combo

You Don't have to refill the lower end. You just want ti make sure you drain it just incase water got in there. I refill it so I am ready for spring. It has fresh oil with no water. Youcan get away with just draining it though.

Because of air pressure. You wouldn't be able to put oil in unless air comes out which the hole isn't big enough. When filling from the bottom the air goes out the top hole

Maybe 2. But I only drain one. The other one is on the lower part of the block on the other side of the motor kind of by the cap and rotor if you have 2

Yes I did.

On the out drive? If yes, just drain it. Maybe ad new fluid. The seals can go bad and that will allow water to get in there which could possibly explode your lower end. Not trying to scare you but it is possible.

Mine had been problem FREE for the past 8 years until it developed a leak in the bilge and then started spudering and dieing. Turned out to be a hole in the exhaust pipe. Long story short I have it at St.Benefacia (sp) boat repair in Minnetonka, min. Finished work costing 3k in repairs. 🙄 I could go on and on. Any ways the boat is ready for pickup and we are planning on a trip down the Mississippi and Croix Saturday. Basically I'm looking for a trustworthy mechanic who winterizes boats. Do you recommend anyone?

@@brianspot glad you have had minimal problems. As long as you take care of them they should last.

You can put 87 octane 89, 90,or 91. Doesn't matter. Just get a marine 360 stable. I add 1 oz per 10 gallons of fuel stable I think. I have another video that is more recent.

If you refilled your lower end in the fall nothing. Put the battery in charge it and run it.
