Hay another great video Dan. People that have never went into the trades don't understand a lot of things especially standards & codes they are there for many reasons safety being #1 reason. I've been doing industrial maintenance for about 30 years and your spot on about the uglys being the bible it's saved my a$$ quite a few times. Lol

dan dude....yup, when I saw your name thats what it became dan dude...Ive been in electrical for a long time power generation to be exact and I have heard the term peckerhead over and over and to be honest I never knew what that was. For me its simply a junction box but damn dan dude. I just learned something today. About to do a ton of checkouts in a new chemical plant so im brushing up on my wiring. Thanks for the vid man!

Not good if I have to keep re-learning this! Especially if it's pretty simple and hard to forget... I put my brown orange yellow with all three wires i.e. brown with 1, 7, and 4, but caught my error... I changed rotation in a snow making pedestal a month or two back. Next day i was with a different journeyman, he asked me what I did the day before, so I told him i changed the rotation on a pedestal. He asked me what colors I changed, I said I did the brown and the orange (honestly can't remember now??) but he was like "nooo dude you have to change the orange and yellow" I was like bro it doesn't matter??

I think the high voltage is just wire nut 6 and 9 together then wire nut 5 and 8 together then wire nut 4 and seven together for a total of 3 wire nuts then hook up your three phases by choosing which one to hook up to which line

How would you go about finding which wires are wich if the labels have worn off of the motor/wires?

Color coding. It’s a NEMA standard.

Hello, how do I know if a three phase electric blower motor is locked up? The reason I’m asking is I have anywhere from 24 to 27 of them and this guy is telling me that they are nothing but scrap and they are in squirrel cages I bought them at auction really good price from Houston Metro. I’m not sure.

best way i could think of is to disconnect the motor from the fan and check them each. Spin the fan by hand to ensure the bearings are ok, then wire up the motors and spin them over without anything attached to make sure you are not starting in a "stall" condition. You could also check for continuity with a meter from each of the three phase lines inside the pecker head of the motor to the case of the motor to ensure there is not an internal short to ground in the field frame. Hope this helps!

It's all based on a patent that's well over a century old no one is paying actual money for the patent but it's still based on a patent design to regulate specific features or layout a blueprint rather

Month ago I was talking about having to hook up 3 phase to motors . Back in my time I could run a Motor to a rewind shop . in the 90's the new motors toss out in the trash . you can change bearings and brushes , but they can't be rewind . Its a Shame for the price .
