WHATS UP PEOPLE ! In this video i do a part two of a previous video i up loaded awhile ago on how to install a back up camera. After uploading that vid its got a lot of views and one main question is what about how you wired it to the back of the radio.
So i decided to go back over that in this video hope it answers some questions.
Also i figured i would give you guys an update on hw the camera is doing.. and its working as well as it did the first day no problems to report of !

OMG I know this video is almost 3 years old, but thank you so much. I got a backup camera installed about 2 years ago and when I replaced my battery in my car I guess it reset my system and I took it back one time to the shop that installed it and it happens again so I decided to look on KZfaq( 🙌🏽🙌🏽) and have found the solution. Thank you so much!!! I kept getting the black screen every 30 seconds after I installed my Rydeen Rear View camera. I turned rear view off and now the camera still comes on in reverse and no black screen. Thank you my man!

Great straight forward explanation. Just a heads up to some folks I had the black screen and it turned out to be a dead camera. Test the camera before installing.

This might be my problem..my wires got pinched and i spliced them back together and black screen.. how did you test your camera? Multi meter?

@@fuelz7124 HAha...well the only thing I had laying around that had an RCA output was an old original Nintendo. I plugged that it into the deck and it worked. I had no way to directly test the camera, but I replaced the camera and it worked right away. I wouldn't splice a tiny RCA cable. Run a new one.

If you want to view your rear view cam while driving forward, or bypassing the reverse signal. You gotta extend and hook the power wires to the cam, straight to the power wire for the overall stereo. Doing that enables constant power to the cam when you turn the key, rather than coming on when you just hit the reverse on to signal power to the camera...

If you do this method will the stereo also switch to the rear cam screen when reverse gear is selected? I'm thinking not, which would mean you can only see the rear cam screen by manually going into the menus or input screens and selecting the view. For me that's a pain in the ass

The camera icon on the receiver when turn on allows you to turn your camera on while driving. In order to do that..you need to wire the red wire from the camera to a power source that provide consistent power like a acc on the back of the stereo or to a cigarette lighter. If you only hook up the power to the reverse light the camera only gets power when in reverse and you will get a black screen when the camera icon on the stereo is on.

@@balemonte727 I think its the reverse light red wire goes to the violet wire on the back of the radio so the radio knows when to switch the camera on. The red wire from the camera goes to a switched power source (from ign on power). RIGHT???

@Xyooj Vanj - I just wired up an Alpine ILX-W650 in my 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 this weekend, and I noticed the factory wired a red constant hot from the left side 12V cig lighter, and the shop I had install the original Alpine unit (12 years ago) reconnected that red wire into the old Alpine harness. I hooked up my NVX BARCAM backup camera behind the unit, so I would not have to remove the head unit again when I go to wire up the camera (currently waiting on heat-shrink tubing to arrive tomorrow). I was just looking for this exact response trying to determine whether I needed to reuse that red constant wire from the 12V, or terminate the connection. I wired in a Micro Bypass so I could turn on the camera while in motion, and I was confused by the 3-way connection on that red wire from the factory. Your response cleared it up. And now I know that I wired it correctly use when not in reverse. Thanks! 👍🏻

"Rear View" should allow the camera to activate at any time, regardless of if the vehicle is in reverse or not. If you get a black screen, you haven't wired in the camera power correctly. This is useful if you do offroad driving, have something covering your rear window and then can use this camera view as a rear view mirror. Looks like you connected the reverse trigger (purple) to camera power, instead of having the camera powered up with the vehicle accessories power, which is how it is meant to be done.

@@benjohnlabayen yes. The stereo has a reverse trigger which should be connected to the reverse light circuit, to allow the stereo to switch to the camera view when reverse is engaged. But as the Camera should be powered off ACC power, it should also be available at any time via the camera source option from the main menu. If it's powered off the reverse circuit, it won't be powered up when simply selecting the camera view from the menu

@@TheDylonias sounds like something has disconnected in your wiring. COuld be the RCA slipped off or the wire to the camera got damaged

At the rear, where does the little red wire coming off the rca plug get hooked up too? The reverse light? Then where does the power wire get hooked up too? Both on the reverse light wire?

Yes both go to reverse wire the red attached to rca is the signal to the radio that car is in reverse so the radio knows to change to back up camera input, the other red is power for camera. If you want you can run red from camera to constant power then if you have option on radio to view back camera while driving then it will work to hope this helps.

Thanks for doing the video, I don't have a problem with the wiring connections. If you done any stereo/amp wiring it is the same concept. Question I have is how did you route the wire into the cab? Did you drill a hole and grommet or did you use a body plug opening?

i had a drain plug from factory under my backseat drivers side so i just drilled a hole in the rubber drain plug and ran it up into the cab that way, then under carpet to dash. if i didnt have that i would of drilled a hole and installed a grommet hope this helps

If you have a truck, I would follow the wires from your trailer 4 or 7 pin and then bring them in through the firewall grommet. It will stay water proof.

I can't believe I found a video with the same entertainment unit as my car but my question is, can I just splice a new backup camera onto the one that's already installed? The wire is already run to the radio receiver. It's just, I went through a car wash and my backup camera is now dead. So I wanted to buy a new one and just splice the wires that are already run back to the trunk and mount the new one where the old one was. Will it work?

I used the reverse signal wire from the trailer harness, same as tapping into the reverse light on taillight both were purple wires for my truck, hope this helps

I have a question about the audio/beeping when you get close to objects as you back up. Is the beep audio coming from the camera or is it built into the stereo system? I just swapped my kenwood stereo out from a 2009 EDGE to a 2010 Fusion. I had the beeping working on the EDGE by so far no luck on the fusion. Where should I start troubleshooting? thanks.

Hi thanks for the video. I’ve had my camera and head unit installed by someone but the camera has never worked. I just took the head unit off and checked it and the rca and purple wire are both in correctly. But when I go to reverse camera it’s just a black screen. The camera actually flicked on for one second but that was it and now it doesn’t go on. Do you think I should replace the camera?

the cameras aren't expensive but before u replace the camera I would go to the back of the vehicle and check the power and ground wires coming from the camera makensure those have a good connection. also check your settings like I stated in the video make sure your menu settings are set up right

Hi, thanks for the video. I have just installed a Pioneer AV on my car. I have also tried to install the backup camera, connected the red 12v cable from the camera to the violet-white wire labelled as Reverse Gear Signal Input, inserted the RCA cable like you did but I am getting black screen. Note that my a Pioneer doesn’t have the option to switch rear cam off as you have shown. What am I missing? I have no connection to the reverse light, can be this the reason? Also is the camera getting power only from the violet white cable? Thanks

chuck kososky the camera’s red wire connects directly to the unit’s violet-white cable. Question is more if I also need connection to the car reverse switch wire?

Bryan Monk also i did run the wires along frame rail until i got under the cab, there was a drain hold so i ran the wires up througg there under the carpet and behind dash hooe this helps

Everything worked until the reverse wire touched another exposed wire in my Hummer H3. Could this be fuse somewhere?

How can I do it? I want to be able to record the rear while driving also i want the reverse and auto view of what's behind?

So can I add another to my front lic plate and just hook it up to another av in on my receiver?? And just put a constant power from the battery on it??
