My husband IS an jamaican, a JACK OF ALL . We live in Va. but hubbie works in NY. That leaves me home in Va , and every now and then, a poblem comes up wit one of our vans. The older van's horn had stoped working. So i call hubbie and he's trying to guide me through installing a push butten horn. Now I have everything he told me I would need to do the job. We are on cam together ,and he's trying to help me install the horn ,wires and fuse. I end up getting mad as HELL!!! I hung up on him as logged on to KZfaq, and and found this video, that guided me step by step, EAZY....YEA ME!!!! AND I CALL HUBBIE AND BLEW THAT DAMM HORN IN IS EAR...LOL LADY'S THE SHOP WENTED 200$ FOR WHAT I DID BY MYSELF. THANK YOU

Great thankyou 😊will the horn still be drawing power with the car switched off ???
@balloney21753 жыл бұрын
@@sebwright2900 The horn will draw power when switched on and yes it will still horn (draw power as you said) when the car's engine is switched off. Try your car's horn before you switched on the engine, didn't you notice you can use your horn?

@SIMARRXSINGH8 жыл бұрын
is that circuit protecter compulsory ??
@TheFortis38 жыл бұрын
+Simar Singh it is highly advised to use this protector device because it will protect the horn and the switch if the circuit was to be short circuited. the circuit will work without the protector but its not safe for the load and switching device in the circuit if there was to be a short.

early in the video (0:53) you mention the positive & negative poles on the horn. But later when connecting the wire you don't say which side to attach to!? Same with the circuit protector. Does it have a '+' & a '-' side? Should you start at the Positive side of the battery & then go to the '+' side of the circuit protector? & then follow up by attaching the wire from the '+' side to the '+' side of the switch? & so on like keep it in line all at the '+' side? Or does it not matter which side you hook up to?
@TheFortis37 жыл бұрын
ok, on the protector it doesnt matter what way you put it. any tab on the fuse can be used for positive or negative. some after market horns do not have a specific positive or negative but you can look on each tab if u see a positive or a negative sign to be sure. the horn used in this video did not have a specific positive or negative side.
@discmotoslots7 жыл бұрын
ok thanks man!
@RobertoSantiagoRodriguez7 жыл бұрын
Hello sir, thanks so much for your video, I really appreciated but why fuse the negative side? never seen that before, I do not think, thanks again.
@TheFortis37 жыл бұрын
it doesnt really matter where but it is best to put it before the load that its protecting. thanks for the comment!

what size fuse do you use for a 12 volt horn

What diameter/gauge of wire do you recommend ??
@kirara49536 жыл бұрын
You can use an 'add circuit fuse holder and get power from there, with that fuse holder you have power and protecction so run a wire to the horn and then from horn to battery ground or car frame and done. Beep beep

how many amps is the fuse
@TheFortis38 жыл бұрын
+Hackere Martinez 15 amps...horns use different amperage depending on the model. so a way to determine the type of fuse to us is to put a ammeter in series in the circuit and measure hw much amps the horn uses. if the horn uses 9 amps then u can use a 10 to 15 amp fuse...never use a fuse below the amperage being drawn or too above the amperage by double.
@alsatch_9 жыл бұрын
i tried this but the fuse keeps blowing
@TheFortis39 жыл бұрын
you probably using a low amp fuse....use a multimeter and measure the current that the horn uses and get a fuse that is about the same amperage or little over
@alsatch_9 жыл бұрын
+lloyd mason Thanks. I have now tried 5amp, 10 amp, 15, 20, 25 & 30 - they all keep blowing. im confused :-(
@alsatch_9 жыл бұрын
+Diagnosticsworld does it matter if i do it like this - positive battery to fuse to switch or does it need to be positive battery to switch to fuse?
@alsatch_9 жыл бұрын
+Diagnosticsworld tried both, the fuses keep blowing. the battery is a standard car battery any other tips?
@TheFortis39 жыл бұрын
+Diagnosticsworld yea you can do battery to fuse...check for a short to lground
@HVinduction7 жыл бұрын
NEVER CONNECT A FUSE AFTER A SWITCH YOU HAVE TO PUT IT DIRECTLY AT THE BATTERY!
@TheFortis37 жыл бұрын
some car makers now actually have some fuse on the ground side.... it is better to put the fuse directly after the battery thou! just incase something is to short. however if anything was to short the load would still be protected since the power would be disconnected from reaching the load, hence completing its objective of protecting the load.

@TheFortis37 жыл бұрын
get it scanned first, what kind of vehicle? airbag ever been replaced?
@emeiloferguson99857 жыл бұрын
Me get it scan but the it's not reading the car. But I did some research and it look like it need a airbag clock spring OEMI. Me ago order it and fix it and see if it work. Me carry it guh one mechanic and then say a that can be the problem. Me have (Honda Civic ex couple 2 door)
@TheFortis37 жыл бұрын
yea that can cause it. maybe it met in an accident before. airbag lights are truly annoying because even a bad seatbelt switch can cause that or a faulty or disconnected impact sensor on the chassis. those cars are awesome thou!..just bought a 2 door honda integra 93....soon upload on it!!
@emeiloferguson99857 жыл бұрын
honda a the best cars and they are good on gas. it end up in a accident before and them rebuild it. me just hope when me fix it, the light come off because they airbag light is truly annoying bra.
