Today I'm going to show you how to wire and configure an LED light to MobiFlight. If you stay to the end I'll also share an annoying life hack for a stall warning horn!

📦To annoy people, you will need an ACTIVE piezo buzzer (a passive one requires signal/pulse modulation to produce sound). This one should work: ebay.us/Eevg0n

Thank you for your very instructive video. I learned from it. I especially like your way of presenting. Cool! The only thing to check out is that it looks that you are nervously jumping up and down a bit. It sure is caused somewhere in the video production software/hardware combo.

Thanks Bob, it works fine... can I also control a LED (e.g. the LED of parking brake B737) with FSUIPC7 in combination with an arduino Micro / Leonardo (ATmega 32u4 instead of ATmega328) ??. This without using Mobiflight. With the micro/Leonardo I have a USB controller that recognizes MSFS directly. I can manage to use buttons and potentiometers, but a LED???

Hi, do you know if you can dim an LED through Mobiflight without adding resistors? My green lights are way brighter than the red ones. Thx.

You can dim an LED using PWM and setting it to a value 0-225. You still need a resistor because of overcurrent so don't try just using PWM. You can also use a higher value resistor to dim the lights.

Do I still need a resistor when the power is getting distributed to lets say 12 LEDs?

Should work, as long as your current is good. Most common LED's require voltage of between approximately 1.2 to 3.6 volts with a current of about 10 to 30 mA, with 12 to 20 mA.

@@CaptainBobSim Hi there!!. just begins with my setup. follow yours steps. got my Mega 2560, download MobiFlight version 9.0.0.. but in Extras/Settings/ MobiFlight Modules, despite show Mobiflight Mega. as configured modules, in the very bottom do not show PATH to Arduino IDE.... Iam stuck not idea what is wrong.. any ideas/ thanks ins advance..

On man I’m watching the intro while making this comment and I’m getting excited already I think I know what this is gonna be!!!! And what I’ve been waiting for. think it’d be possible for you to help me figure out how to get the landing gear lights in the 737 up to realism. Green while locked and in position and red while in travel.

I believe there are some presets you can use (I skimmed over them) like left right nose up/down you can use individually. Basically manipulate the equation/interpolation/comparison until it displays 1 while moving to turn a certain LED on.

@@CaptainBobSim the part that confuses me still is like is 0 is up and 1600 is down you need green to work both with 0 and 1600. and the reds to work in between those valves to show you the wheels are stuck or in motion so red works with 1-1599. The which gear isn’t the problem. It’s making the leds work opposed to the wheel location

Yep! Use MSFS2020 instead of FSUIPC and search up your function - I usually use "Generic"

Hey Trevor, Just wondering if you can give me a hand on an issue. I am doing some flying in DCS which I do not believe Mobiflight covers. However, I understand that 9.3 now covers joysticks. What I would like to do is set up a few LEDs to light when certain joystick buttons are pushed. In other words I just want a light to come on when I deploy AIR Brake for instance. So what I would like it to do is turn on the light when the joystick button is pressed without interacting with a simulator. Do you know if it is possible? I have set up INPUT as my T16000M and device as Button 3 but I am not sure what to select from the On Press or ON Release drop down boxes. Also, not sure what to select on the Output side. I know this is a bit strange but I just wonder if it is possible. Really appreciate any advise you might have. Thanks Kevin

@@wingnutnb Hey Kevin! It was easier than I thought it would be! I started out by creating an input variable let's call it "LedLight" Plug your joystick in and for module select your joystick Name your variable and If you want it a flick switch: For on press say value of 0 and on release say value of 1 (or swap 1 and 0) If you want it a button (this can easily get out of sync, so be warned) for on press say if($=1, 0, 1) this will make it so that if the value is one it will turn to zero, but if it is not one, it will turn to one. Regardless, go under output, and display Choose your arduino and pin. There you have it! If it gets out of sync, you can move the lever in the sim using your mouse to re sync it. You can also press stop on mobiflight and press the joystick. Lemme know if there's anywhere you need further help!

Hi Trevor, As you can tell I am new to Mobiflight so I am not sure that I completely understand your directions. However, after working my way through it seems that it may not work as a toggle. In other word press once "light Goes On' press again Light Goes Out" . Am I correct on this assumption. Thanks, I hope I am not wearing out my welcome here, but I do appreciate your help. Same concept, except each pin has a different configuration, and all go to ground. I'll do a video about this way in the future :)

Agreed! I set it to HD for future videos :) I thought it was but "Canvas Resolution" is different than "Output Resolution"

@@CaptainBobSim Thanks! While we're at it, have you (or are you able to) figure out how to access FenixA320 variables, specifically for FCU/AP numbers? and perhaps buttons states as well, eg. AP1/2, FD, LS so we could light LED up?

@@CaptainBobSim thanks but I can't find what i'm looking for. There are "ACTUAL" Aircraft speed,altitude,hdg but I wanted the AP/FCU ALT, SPD, HDG, VS set on the FCU :) I guess these aren't directly available from Fenix, I heard other ppl used some hacks to get to this. Thanks anyways.

Hmmm Both great airplanes! I like them both for different reasons. I'd prefer to fly the 777 as a pilot, because it's a beautiful aircraft, but from a consumer perspective I'd rather fly the 787.
