How to wire LED pods, Modules and aux lighting to your reverse backup bulbs on Jeep Wranglers. Our test vehicle here is a JL 2018, but the same can apply to other models.

Sweet 👍 I've been looking for a way to upgrade my reverse lights

thank u so much for your instructions

Why would you not tap in to the Jeep side of connector? Then you could pull the tail lights out without disconnecting your tapped wires. Seems silly to tap into the light side of the connector.

Always better to avoid tapping into wire harness unless you really need to. No room for errors with those. Mess up on one wire and the whole harness needs to be replaced.

I agree. As far as the harness goes the wires to reverse lights become permanent wiring and your lights should have plugs so they can be easily replaced.

I agree, it was probably just an oversight .

Hey 3 questions, what bumper is that and did you run one pod to each taillight and could you tap in to the harness before where they connect to the taillight so you would be able to unplug taillights without involving the pod lights?

Best Explaination I have found, solid work, thank you sir!

simple instructions.... thanks. Only question is why not just wire to one side? too much load or what?

What about if you have led lights installed already?

have a strange question...... have a 2015 jeep wrangler that the revearse light switch is basically doing the opposite of what it is supose to do....replaced switch and still revearse lights are always on......anyone have this problem?

That is pretty small wire going to that tail light bulb. Are the LEDs going to draw too much amperage for that small wire?
@fuglstad_explores8 ай бұрын
Is this the same if you have the LED Rear Lights?
@dumonr714 жыл бұрын
Do you really need to use a really with LEDs? Seems like the minimal draw isn’t an issue for them...
@DUD3_BR04 жыл бұрын
Not really. Those small pods draw barely any power, and for the application in the video there's no need for a manual shut off.

Don't use scotch lo KS anywhere you have vibration or moisture. Basically, nowhere on a vehicle.

Remember kids, there's the right way to do this and then there's this way. Always use a relay.
@DUD3_BR04 жыл бұрын
They're already on a relay, the one that controls the reverse lights. Adding another relay to the circuit is unnecessary.

Why would you tap into each light? Just tap into the Passenger side like you did and connect both pods to that one splice! No Need to separately tap into each one.
@danieldelatorres6521 Жыл бұрын
Actually its best to do both. For power purposes and reducing the load for the given wire. Thats alot of wattage for a single wire to do,a stock light and 2 aftermarket pods..so 3 total. When its only meant to do 1 light.

basically...
@agustinhidalgo4054 жыл бұрын
NOOOOOOOOO! Bro don't use those splicers, the worst..they easily get moisture then you would be getting electrical gremlins. Ask me how I know. Spend a little more time to do it right.
