Hermann and Tobias Steck share a passion: they love concrete. Although they don't use it in house construction, but as a starting material for their design objects. To cover a stove, they are now building a shell with an exposed concrete look.
Father and son Hermann and Tobisas Steck from Filderstadt make concrete objects. The father is a master mason and reinforced concrete builder, his son a carpenter. Together they form a perfect team for all the work steps involved in processing concrete. And their mission is to bring out the best in concrete.
Their company has received an order to cover a free-hanging fireplace with concrete. The client wants an exposed concrete look. As if there were a fireplace here made of a heavy piece of concrete, including the characteristic wood grain that the cast stone gets from its formwork panels. For this, Tobias makes formwork exactly to measure, in which his father casts the individual elements from high-strength fiber concrete.
In the end, a modernist design object adorns the living room, which not only warms, but whose surface is also a true hand-flatterer of velvety quality. And it makes clear why the two concrete builders are so passionate about their material.
