04:40 A 16 hr fast means your eating window is 8 hours. If you have a 3 hour eating window, then you are doing a 21 hour fast. A 3 hr feeding window is more like OMAD one meal a day, great for reducing weight, not ideal for gaining muscle. For the 8 hr fast the eating window, as stated is 11 hrs. so what happened to the other 5 hours? No water during a fast is brutal.

Thanks for the knowledge Mike. I didn’t know that protein synthesis starts after you consume a meal and lasts 5 hours. Can you make a video of calisthenics v weight training and why you prefer weight training? Love the Japan videos btw. I visited there once when I was in the military. Love how clean it is and love the food. Also have to mention the amazing public transportation there. You thinking about checking out Korea next?

Thanks Mike. Lots to consider there. Personally I’m wiped out for the evening after breaking fast. My body just crashes. No chance of working out. So during Ramadan I get up 90mins before dawn and lift while I can drink water. I eat straight afterwards. Porridge and a protein shake then back to sleep for a couple of hours. Works for me. Ramadan Kareem.

Thanks Champ, follower from Saudi. I try and bulk 2-3 weeks before Ramadan (dirty bulk 😂), then use Ramadan as a clean cut whilst focusing on not losing too much strength. I’m ok to lose some mass and lose HEAPS of fat. I eat good amount of protein at Iftar (6-7pm), then hit the fluids until Suhoor (4-5am) including 500ml yoghurt/milk drinks as my last meal, then I’m hydrated enough to do a maintenance session before the next Iftar (2 sets, no PB like you say, but keeping it heavy). I find if I stop the gym or go too light weights then my body loses all strength very quickly in 4 weeks during Ramadan. Keep up the great vlogs bro

I train after fasting, dates are a great source of energy prior to it. Afterwards every 1,5/2 hour small meals with atleast 20 grams of proteïne, i noticed getting leaner without losing muscle, but ofcourse i'm in a calorific deficit. Great video Mike

Ramadan is a month meant to solidify and strengthen not only the physical but the mental/psychological sides of human beings. What use of fasting in the name of The Creator for 12-15 hours a day if it doesn't benefit one emotionally, spiritually and physically. Which is why I always do my toughest weight trainings before Iftar; to feel the intensity of thirst, starvation and hunger. Only then can one understand/feel how the unprivileged ones go through on daily basis. And lastly, as per scientific studies, the GH ( Growth Hormone ) is at highest level when fasting. But loved every single aspect described/explained by uncle Mike. Love you and long live.😍😍

Mike during Ramadan over the years I’m training one day on two days off for 45 mins, 4 hours after breaking my fast and having another meal 1 hour before sunrise and lifting at 80 percent of normal capacity , training seems to be working very well as when Ramadan is completed I can ramp up back to normal without any issues .

I think if I was fasting I would do this, keep ticking over training two days per week, I wouldn't do legs(too taxing imo and something has to give))but cover all other muscle groups, which could be done easily...

Ramadan is the fasting month of the year. It is time restricted feeding dry pattern i.e. fasting completely for about 14-16 hours. Also we train either just 1-2 hours before breaking the fast or after in the feeding window

One of the tricky things with training in Ramadhan is the Taraweeh prayer (if you want to pray it, which I do like to do in the mosque). This leaves little time for training after breaking the fast. training after that is pretty effective, like Mike said if you can switch your sleep pattern and sleep more during the day and training/work evening and night that is optimal. Like a lot of people that timing does not work for my life. As someone doing his for years, I always try bulk before Ramadhan, then I find Ramadhan good for cutting. Training, have to just compromise, can't train like normal. Train when u get time either first thing when have more energy or just before Iftari time when even though can be tired, not long to wait to hydrate and eat. Less sessions is inevitable but like Mike says more focus on quality.
