My notes on Chandler’s guide on how to write the first draft of your book: 1. Mind map. Brain dump everything you can think of on a blank sheet of paper (15-45mins) 2. Create an outline by grouping ideas into 5 sections and ordering. Drill into each section, 3 chapters per section 3. Write book by repeating process per chapter. 10 mins - mindmapping everything you can think of, 10 mins - mindmap to outline, 45-90 mins - writing chapter. If you speak better than you write, speak your chapter out loud (10 mins) and transcribe. (Hope this serves as a reminder for when you take the challenge!)

Thanks to Chandler Bolt I am currently writing the rough draft to my very first book. I'm dedicating this book to the memory of my daughter Alexa, her mother Nichol, and little sister London who were all found dead earlier this year. This book has allowed me to process through my grief and will help parents to create memorable moments worth their children that will last a lifetime.

Three things stood out to me as I listened to This talk: 1) how Chandler Bolt’s friend’s death from a freak accident on a cruise changed the trajectory of Chandler’s life, 2) how an 8-year old girl’s life became more meaningful because she saw her dad write a book, 3) that Chandler Bolt is the real deal who is inspiring thousands of people like me to follow through on goals that had been set aside. @Self Publishing School Hi Chandler. I have been working on my Memoir since 2016/2017 but in chapters, all written and organized in “my notes” on my iPhone. I’ve written in times when feeling inspired or felt lead to share the raw truths of growth and perspective. Not sure what I would title it but somewhere... Wildly Worthy- turning your wounds into wisdom. With kids, ranging to almost 13 through 8 years old & now a full-time homeschool Mom, it’s been a challenge trying to balance my “feeling inspired” writing time. lol Especially with my boys who each have their own individual special needs.

I wrote a book, I found beta readers, I found an editor but then I was stuck. I had no idea how to get my book into the hands of readers, even though I felt a huge calling to do so. One day, I found Chandler's Self-Publishing School. It looked good, so I decided to take the plunge and go for it, wondering in the back of my mind if it was a scam. Eight weeks later, I was a published author and within a few months, people in six countries had purchased my book. Now I am now getting ready to hit publish on both the fourth book in my bestselling Christian Fiction Series and my first non-fiction book. So I know Chandler is legit. Additionally, Chandler and his team are some of the most awesome, dedicated, amazing people who truly care about their students' successes. Your friend's life at the start of this talk made everything fall in place. It explains a lot about your enthusiasm, and the power behind your mission. So grateful for the internet in moments like these - to be able to connect across miles and still feel the impact of ONE life. Thank you for what you do, Chandler. In less than 15 minutes, you've provided a decent template and a practical approach to a goal many have. Looking forward to my call with Brooke from the SPS team :)

“The best way to serve humanity is to write a book.” Several people in the past six months have suggested that I write a book - I’ve experienced and continue to experience continual challenges - maybe it’s time to string some syllables together, start speaking chapters and take on what seems impossible. Maybe it’s time to take the challenge... it’s definitely the time to serve humanity ...

I am a student of SPS. Their approach works. It's not theory but what Chandler and others have learned through experience which they are passing along to others. Plus the support and interaction with other students/authors is great. After years of thinking about publishing my first book, I am finally doing so thanks to Chandler and SPS.

Great talk and advise on writing that first draft. But what got me motivated was the “Make him proud” story. I lost my little brother just a few months ago in a freak accident. And I know finally writing that book would make him proud. That’s my new mantra. Thanks Chandler.

Thank you very much for sharing the tips for writing a book, especially the story about your friend. I'm so sorry, that made me very sad and also reminded me that we are only here for a minute. We do not know how long we will be in this world and if we have the possibility to impact people's lives and even our lives to share our history and write a book, why not. There's powerful message in every story!

I am currently reading The Miracle Morning. At AAL I flipped the book open and the first line I read was “When you delay waking up until you have to...consider that what you’re actually doing is resisting your life.” That’s exactly what I’ve been doing. My job has a toxic environment and I dread logging on every day. I am starting to turn this franchise around though...realizing I need to break free and find another way forward.

SUCH a huge limiting belief for people who think it takes YEARS to write a book. Just that belief ALONE prevents people from ever even STARTING because they think they're committing to this crazy giant unfathomable process....with self-publishing it's totally doable within 6 months or even half that. Can't wait for more people to watch this and hopefully it inspires them to have confidence in writing their own book. :)
