Want to know how to write a good bug report for the video game you love and want to see it get fixed? This video will show you how professional video game testers write their bug reports.
You will learn step by step how to write up a bug report that anyone will be able to follow even a none gamer. It will also explain why things are done a specific way and how doing this type of bug reporting could even land you a job in the video game industry.
Bug report example/template:
(Short one-sentence description here)
Ki punch knockback animation is too fast.
(Paragraph or less describing the bug)
When the player uses the ki punch power the enemy is knocked back quickly, to where the player is unable to get a ranged shot off on them before the enemy hits the ground.
Severity rankings: 1= crashes 2=game stoping bugs 3=all other bugs
Severity: 3
1. Run Sweet Tea Launcher
2. Select Thunderspy
3. Click on verify files
4. Click on launch
5. Put in username and password
6. Click on create a new character
7. Click on ranged damage
8. Click on the blaster
9. Select any primary powerset
10. Select Martial Artist in the secondary powerset
11. Select the ki punch power
12. Finish creating the character
13. Find and target the enemy at melee range
14. Click on the ki punch power or press the corresponding number on the keyboard
15. Click on a ranged attack or press the corresponding number on the keyboard for the ranged attack
16. View results
Repro: 5/5
Actual Results: The enemy flies back and hits the ground before the player can do a ranged attack on them while the enemy is in the air.
Expected results: The enemy would fly back slowly as if in slow motion and the player would be able to get a ranged attack off on the enemy while they are in the air.

If you are getting paid just make it part of there job to write them that way. When I worked as a game tester if we did not write the bug reports in the formate they wanted we would get fired.

Every company uses different tools and some mainly smaller ones do not use any as just use basic tools. Also, they will teach you the interfaces of the tools when you get hired.

There are a lot of differences but all of them cost money. For my indie games, I use Excel.

Hey CCG! Been loving your vibe, and videos! I'm going to write a report tonight actually, because I have ran 10 Derelict Freighters, some with multiplayer on and some with it off, and ALL had their teleporters bugged. The green light never turned on for the 3 in each respective room (not including the first starting one), and once finishing the run, I have to go back to the "Control Room"/closest room and walk the rest of the way back. I also recieved ZERO salvaged frigate modules and ZERO quicksilver. I opened probably 1000+ blue boxes :/ I can attempt to "activate" them, and the noise goes off, but the light never will come on. I firmly believe the teleporters are mega broken on my save, and somehow my DROP RATES?? I'm worried about all of this.

Thank you for the kind words, Hello games has a patch in the works that will fix the derelict frater teleporter bug. It is on the internal steam build now. So hopefully it will come out before the expadition come out.

Thank you my friend. 💙 I discovered this game just 2 months ago, and already have 130+ hours on it, loving it more than any game I’ve ever played! Funny enough, I’ve been purposely saving the derelict experience until ‘endgame’ so this really bummed me out. I can’t wait until they work, and I actually get my first salvaged frigate module and quicksilver💯 I really appreciate the response CCG💪🏼

It's good to hear your enjoying the game, there are other ways of getting salvaged frigate modules. You can get them as mission rewards or by attacking fraters and frigates. If you go the last way I brought up I recommend doing it in pirate controlled space as you will also make a lot of units by selling the black market goods.

@@ControlledChaosGaming I did see your video on being a pirate! Was very helpful to me, because I was having trouble deciding if I should hit the cargo pods as well and sacrifice the standing I worked hard to get max. Watching your video I saw how efficient it was to just hit those as well, and definitely reminded me to go to a Pirate System because Sentinels get so annoying haha! I still have more to get soon. I just want the drops of derelicts to definitely be their intended rates, as I feel 99% sure I can't get modules OR quicksilver and that makes me worry if other items are jeopardized. Regardless, this game is truly a blessing! I look forward to your content my man :) Polestar should be a lot of fun, would love to see your take on the Expedition!

@@zakaryhoage5770 Oh I will be doing videos on the expadition. My first one will be an overview of the expadition and what all needs to be done along with the rewards. after that I will do videos showing how to do the phases of the expaditions. I would have shown all the phases of the last one but I was having a hard time with it as where many due to the permadeath part of it.
