HOW TO WRITE AN EFFECTIVE LEGAL DEMAND LETTER
Attorney Steve® discusses how to write not a Good or Great legal demand letter, but an AWESOME demand letter that gets noticed and gets attention and hopefully helps you get your case settled.
Some key points are:
1. Keep your letter short and concise (usually 1-5 pages is good)
2. Make sure you are asserting a viable claim (look up the jury instructions to see if you think you can prove your case)
3. Use exhibits to provide factual support
4. Be cordial (don't threaten to report them to law enforcement, or threaten their person or property)
5. Add your key facts
6. Add citations to the law if appropriate
7. Make your legal demands
8. Set a timeline to respond
9. Ask them to preserve evidence
10. Reserve all legal rights in your ongoing investigation

Hey A Steve. I got lawyer and he had his asst. send A DEMAND letter w/o me reading it first. I am not a happy camper. He works for a firm and this firm has another office, lawyer that litigates. This was not disclosed initially. What are options now as the case will have to be sent their Tampa, Fl. office and start from beginning. Is this an example of a lawyer that closes deals or ... and doesn't do anything as far as talking cases to court? thanks Steve. Have a great week.

Fine method of training your staff. I feel like I've just been given a crash course. I just sent my first demand letter overseas in an international court. I'm learning their laws on my own and am representing myself as a Litigant In Person I expect I'll writing more of these down the road, though I hope not. I will heed your advice. Any tips on litigating in court, how to keep one's cool when the other party acts a fool?

I am self representing myself for an auto fraud, misrepresentation of advertising sales and breach of contract that has been sold to me as is. THe defendants want me to offer them a demand letter and I am not sure how to calculate what is the right amount to ask. The Bank wants to settle separatley againsts the other defendants. Do you think its best to settle as one or separately? Please help

Hey Steve, 99% of us do not deal with high profile clients and publicity. I have performed a job for a client that refuses to pay me stating that i did not finish the job when in fact the city of sacramento has cleared the property. Letters for a Demand of Payment is probably more in need then a stop and desist. Please make a demand for payment video. good legal advice though

Hey there...that letter is PERFECTION! Im dealing with a civil rights case against the AR State Police...i am going Pro Bono and this happened over a year ago...i was falsely imprisoned and excessive force to the extent of them breaking my windows in my car. Your outline of the letter is perfect. And i know for a fact that he stopped me because he saw my girlfriend (who happens to be Caucasian) and i stop at a store. I want to let them know that i dont want to go to court and present the dashcam to the courts because it would be a no-win situation for them, especially prensenting the fact that they were operating UNDER THE COLOR OF LAW! Do you think that i should include a COL Form along with the letter?

@Luigi Torti Hey there Luigi... well, THAT IS the way to go at them because I DO have a lawyer that is helping me with this and he told me to go ahead with the demand letter FIRST!! He said that he really don't think that any of the officers will want to get on the stand because everything that happened is on the dash cam...so if they won't negotiate, then a TRIAL BY JURY is what will happen...I already have my 2 WITNESSES!! And when he stopped me, he DIDN'T HAVE A WARRANT, WHAT CRIME DID I COMMIT FOR HIM TO STOP ME, AND IF IT WAS A FOLLOWING TOO CLOSELY TICKET, THEN WHY DIDN'T HE JUST SIMPLY GIVE ME THE "CONTRACT" SO I COULD HAVE BEEN ON MY WAY...I MISSED MY SON'S HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION BECAUSE OF THIS JACKASS AND IT HAS CAUSED A STRAIN ON OUR RELATIONSHIP AS WELL....the officer that asked my girlfriend "WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH THEM" BETTER not want to get on the stand... regardless, bro, they are going to pay because my car is STILL at the impound and it's been almost 2 YEARS... REALLY!! And plus, they put FALSE CHARGES ON ME...I STILL HAVE THE SHIRT THAT THEY RIPPED...all over a FOLLOWING TOO CLOSELY.... thanks for the info bro, but I think that I'm going to stick with what I have going!!! ✌️

What about sending one to a cell phone company to request who has been monitoring all cell phone activities? Because I was informed by someone from the legal dep of my cell phone company that I am being monitored but o need to send a demand letter to find out who it is. I’ve suspected for many years that law enforcement has been monitoring my activity illegally and because of them doing so have been stalking, harassing and sabotaging everything in my life from job prospects to my love life. It’s been hell. Help
