This is incredibly helpful when you have absolutely no idea where to start with putting music to animation. Finding out which beat the hit point falls on, and how many beats you have leading up to it, adjusting the tempo, and then working towards the hit point sounds like a good place to start! I was about to give up-but maybe I won't! Thanks Guy!

I personally make music for video games with a more serious tone but I have had so many requests from people asking me to make music for their animated projects, usually in a more comedic tone, that I decided it was about time I try to learn. This was the first video I found. Kicking off my journey with an amazing opener. :) Thank you for the amazing video.

Really terrific intro to doing this. I usually use input quantize instead of step record but I might switch now because it makes it impossible to get it on the wrong 16th note, for example. Back to scoring 90 minutes for four live players and two days away from the session with 30 min or more left to do. Record piano improv in DP, dump to Finale and edit, add other instruments, dump back to DP, adjust tempos, export audio of click for engineer. And I will be on Zoom in Connecticut running the session in South Carolina. Fingers crossed. When it’s over I’ll watch more of your videos!

Hi! After scoring a dozen short home videos, I would like to score something more interesting. I did follow the course MFTM 2 and some others which included nice clips to score to. Seeing you add music to animations looks very fun and I would love to give this a try. Where can I find free videos to use?

Hi Guy. I loved your video, which was incredibly insightful. I've been composing for a while, but want to get into film composing but am unsure of the technical setup that is required. In the past I have composed with Sibelius and, with the somewhat limited playback, have created audios by importing and editing them in Audacity. But I'm now limited when it comes to film composition in terms of equipment. Does Digital Performer allow you to score music in the same way as Sibelius does, or is it all done via live playing from the keyboard into the software? I have a PC, so what is the keyboard you are using in this video? I would really appreciate your help! Thanks. Guy Shepherd

Hmmm ... The part where the music goes up needs to be longer, it needs to have more of a buildup to the final "crash". Maybe a trilling flute that builds up in volume and when they hit, play a nice concert piano octave hit. (BAM) and maybe a super low note. But I wouldn't have done it any better in only 14 minutes ... Hats off!
