I am very impressed by your moved emotion as when I first by chance discovered Zhoushen singing “Huanyan” (Happy Countenance) his first public performance on China Vocal 2014 when he was only 21, I was Absolutely shocked by his simple natural honest art of singing yet Amazingly ASTONISHED as it sounded like a CD performance! No overdo fake acting at all! Simply Natural Art Singing!!!! I told myself I had found a Gem 💎 Artist Singer as I keep my former career in searching for excellent opera or classical vocal artists. So happy and moved like your expression! Then I studied him in more detail. He was a trained opera tenor in Lviv Music Conservatory Ukraine a very famous vocal University and he was a student of the top Ukraine tenor, graduating with straight A. But now he uses countertenor voice more often as in this “Think of me” and coloratura style in “Song of Laughter” Furthermore he is gifted with a combination of children/ female/ male, a choir in himself unique voice. Sometimes he sings like those boys in the Cambridge King’s College choir live. Addition to that he is gifted with an interchangeable voices to sing for different characters in “Dalabengba” “Cowboys are busy” To your surprise he is also gifted linguist that he sings more than 12 international languages: English German French Italian Russian Ukraine Polish Spanish Japanese Indian Korean Thai and Cantonese. The most beautiful part in Zhoushen singing is Natural Art! And his voice is so touching and healing that healed many souls. Bless you from Singapore.

Well said! Singing is not about acting, not about faking, regardless of how he looks like, that's him. A song sing by different people might get different stories. I love your reaction!! I was especially happy you realized his honesty. He is currently a vocal instructor for a chinese show where people vote on who debuts (CHUANG 2021), and that is what he constantly emphasized to the trainees. He said that the audience need to hear your sincerity and a true and honest story. If you can't communicate with your audience, no matter how skillful you are at singing you have essentially failed that performance

Wonderful reaction & commentary, Rocky. Your main point about what you have previously called "authenticity" cannot be emphasized enough in my opinion. For the past year, I've searched for artists who were not well known in the USA but popular throughout much of the rest of the world, and I have discovered a great number of them who have resurrected my old musical soul. Ironically, Dimash was my 1st discovery, and it took me some time to even wrap my mind around his enormous abilities and his amazing authenticity both in his music and in his personal life. Some of the others I've discovered are Terry Lin, Hua Chenyu (great theatrical performance art & voice), Morissette Amon, Marcelito Pomoy, Sara Geronimo, Lara Fabian, Diana Ankudinova, Angelina Jordan, Gabrielle Henrique, etc. Now, I know about this wonderful artist.
