I knew a man who was part of the Chosin Reservoir operations. He was a prominent boyscout leader and an extremely nice guy. Dude *HATED* tootsie rolls, even before his military service. But he admitted they tasted pretty damn good when they were the only thing to really eat and "stay mobile" at the same time. I now know why he said "stay mobile" now. He kept them assisting in vehicle repair a secret.

Our neighbor who passed away a few years back was a WW2 combat veteran. Every time he would see me and my family he'd walk up and say "hello strangers" and would reach in his pocket and say "here have some strength" , and would hand us tootsie rolls. Every time 😆. +Panzer Faust Answer is they had it because it was no accident, Tootsie Rolls were dropped/supplied to troops commonly (simple Google will lead you to credible sources). The whole story of accidentally dropping tootsie rolls is BS, yes 6mm mortar rounds did have a codename of tootsie roll but they never actually dropped tootsie rolls because of that codename. Also tootsie rolls can't seal a pressurized fuel line, so RIP this stories logic.

Well, the main differences are, The American people actually acted like patriots, and gave the Korean Vets a warm welcome home. And that we are still enemies with the North Koreans, and The Korean War hasn't technically ended yet. While The American people hated The Vietnam Vets when they came home, and we are on generally good terms with Vietnam today.

So this also happened so the marines were at korea, the tanks broke down and it was cold so they got a radio and asked someone that they needed blankets supplies food etc, ig the other line didn't hear well and a airplane came in and dropped a box of tootsie rolls so they did the best they could and wetted the tootsie rolls and used them as bandages, and covered up the holes the tanks and fixed it and moved along. The very box of tootsie rolls are in a museum so yeah
