Switched one of my recent beat’s hi-hats from trappy triplets to something super bouncy and spacious. It made the whole beat hit so much different. Definitely don’t be afraid to think outside the box.

Got a late start on being able to watch this, but gems as always my man! I reach towards trap drums way too often out of habit. Learning when to try to implement other sounds and to get them to fit with the aesthetic you're going for while attempting to be unique and stand out is a God send!

@@NavieD like when I add a ghost note to the drums I can't feel it and it comes out more mechanical/programmed, I have played around with velocity and pitch to get a more natural sound but Most of the times it doesn't work or maybe I end up paying more attention to the ghost notes Idk Tbh, and I would like to see what you do and approach this thing.

This is goated I have this issue where I will make two separate versions of a pattern (like for example I'll make two slightly different hi hat patterns) and I wont be able to tell which i like more or which makes more sense and is better. Is there any way to help that?

Bro can u make a video bout placement? Specially on genre of boom bap. Im havin a problem cause when Im in process of makin I do it in single pattern at first, then after I think its done I split it then do placement the sound is really different. Of course I cant make it the same thru start and end so I try to balance the frequency but the sound is really different for me its not the same as what Im hearin it at first

@@NavieD I mean is, like in your video when you playing the beat its in 1 pattern but if I will make it in full beat it cant be always like that because it will sound repetitive n boring. My problem is when I making it in full song the beat is sound diffrnt for me bcos I take out some part lets just say the sax or piano, cos I will put it in nxt bar to make it interestin. Bcos of that (obviously ) the sound will bcome diffrnt in some bars it sounds full but in some are not. Appreciate it bro!

well yeah, music is subjective, but he is teaching new people so the understand that trap drums doesnt fit to everything, if you switch a genre you switch how melody is and how drums are, most of the times

I personally like to add hardcore trippy trap drums to some vibey oldschool sounding rhodes because it combines the two aesthetics and creates a whole new feeling, there is no "one aesthetic" you have to fit with your beat..

Just a suggestion navi When u show us a beat where u use different drums like the beat which was spacious, also refer us to a few free and paid sample packs. part of the whole problem is thinking as those aesthetics as something "set". theres no clear lines between genres. its all in your head. in the end samples are just samples. mess around and see what you come up with.
