I went to the woods I always go to and the biggest and oldest tree twards the front fell over the root structure,and hole were huge, then I noticed the other trees around it had branches but more like tentacles reaching down from them cradling the biggest fallen tree. By far one of the coolest things I've ever seen in NATURE!!!

This is going to sound a bit farfetched but…actually, we can talk to trees… because once in my 20’s I did just that. Let me explain: In my early 20’s, I lived in a small town called, Moses Lake, Washington, and was attending the local community college there. As a typical impressionable kid, I toyed with marijuana, and while on break I decided to partake and took a stroll out to my balcony one weekend following a tennis championship game on television. It was a cool, sunny Autumn day and I began glancing at a nearby tree that was under fall’s spell, so most of its leaves had fallen. While under the influence, I began casually pondering, musing about the tree’s life cycle, how it got water from its base to the very top, etc., just minding my own business; when all of a sudden, my thoughts felt like it was being hijacked by the tree, and a mental and spiritual connection was made or established with the tree! Needless to say, I thought, “This is weird”, but went with it because it seemed like a harmless mind-expanding adventure. The conversation was 100% mental, not a word was spoken, and it relayed to me in images and concepts, its entire history, how it worked or lived, and all of its connections to everything living. It felt like I had a mental pipeline directly into the tree’s cellular memory from the beginning of time or life upon Earth. During the connection, I was informed or shown that trees are literally connected to all living things and that without trees, life on Earth could not exist because of the interconnectedness trees have to the air we breathe and to the water and food we and they provide and eat to sustain life on Earth. Needless to say, I was shocked and terrified at the same moment. It was the most freakish experience I have ever had, but the encounter was long-lasting right up to the present day, I’m 69 now. The pipeline was going fine until the tree began showing me how trees on Earth are connected directly to outer space and the solar system. I was fine with and fully understood every connection trees had to all things on Earth, but when it began venturing off the planet, nothing was making sense anymore, and I purposely snapped and broke the connection because I thought I was beginning to hallucinate (yes, more so than the prior 15-30 minutes talking with the tree previously). My understanding of life’s connections and connectedness was powerful and I never forgot the lesson. The diversion of the tree’s teachings going from Earthbound things to the cosmos haunted and perplexed me for years, until one day in my 50s, I saw a piece by Neil deGrasse Tyson, the astrophysicist. He talked about how life on Earth is literally made of stardust, meaning that in the formation of the Earth billions of years ago, Earth was bombarded with cosmic stuff and ingredients that eventually were transformed and assimilated into life on Earth, including trees and all mammals, including us. It was then, that I had that ah-ha, light bulb moment thinking back to what the tree was attempting to tell me about its connection to the cosmos, but I was too immature or stoned to understand the connection at that time… I got it… I finally understood…but there’s more, and a simpler connection awaited me. In my 60s, I had another Earth shattering ah-ha moment of understanding, when I again pondered the tree conversation while discussing the experience with my then girlfriend, and wife now, and realized that although the Tyson story about us being made of stardust is absolutely true and correct; the tree was trying to relate something far more simply and simplistic to understand. All it was saying was it gets some of its energy and life from the sun - sunlight, which comes from “outer space”! The message about the cosmos was that simple; needless to say, when I finally figured out the tree’s intended simple, juvenile, and fundamental message, I laughed out loud having been flabbergasted by the simplicity of the concept… sunlight… who knew! I know I had a conversation with the tree because its language did not incorporate the term “sunlight”, but it did know “cosmos and outer space”. Had the conversation been of my creation and without a third-party influencer, of course, sunlight would have immediately come to my mind in the tree’s description of what else, “photosynthesis”. The moral of this story is, yes, if one is in the right frame of mind, one can talk with trees. 😊

The fungi have smaller roots that can reach nutrients in spaces that the larger tree roots cannot, while the tree is tall enough to absorb the sunlight that the fungi would otherwise miss out on. Mycorrhiza!

I have 2 trees in my front yard. One of the tree I tickle every day for the past 3 months. Just yesterday, the other tree got jealous and slapped me in the face when I wasn't looking.

Once any living cell be that of nature picks up the ability of communication to other living things is amazing.☺

That might be the reason why ancient Indians culturally banned cutting of large trees like Banyan trees.

As humans go on slashing and burning.. we are tearing at fabrics and breaking chains that we cannot even see.. but it seems that we are fast approaching a wall on this planet .. thank goodness.
