I was 9 years old when this happened. We were on vacation in Tagaytay and was due to return to Pangasinan the following week for the school start. It was one of the longest and most tiring journey ever. It was the start of the rainy season and the ashes from the eruption reached us even in Tagaytay. The rain was mixed with ash and stank of rotten eggs. In Tarlac and other places we passed by, the lahar flows buried thousands of houses up to the second floor. You can only see the rooves of the houses. Other people were buried alive when their houses collapsed due to the heavy weight of accumulated ashes that was continuously dropping and hardened by the rain. Since that tragedy was on the news, everyday after school we were sent to the roof to brush off ashes. Luzon lost lots of lives at the start of the '90s. Northern Luzon was hit with a magnitude of 7.7 earthquake before the big eruption of Mt. Pinatubo of Central Luzon. It took almost a year before we got good drinking water from pumps. And we were still terrified of when the next after shock will happen. At that time, it realy felt like the world was going under.

The Pinatubo eruption is the second-largest terrestrial eruption of the 20th century after the 1912 eruption of Novarupta in Alaska.

I was 10 years old then. Akala namin talaga magugunaw na ang mundo. Sobrang dilim kahit na umaga. Nakakatakot. I remembered how my dad coerced me na umakyat sa bubong noon para magtanggal ng abo. Batang 80s!

This happened 3 days before I was born and according to my mom's stories when I was a child, the ash fall was severe. Even in QC.

I lost my father in mt pinatubo eruption. and also we abandoned our house way back 1991. Kasi hindi na pwedi terhan dahil sa kapal ng lahar. So Lumipat na lang kami ng pangasinan ng 1991 hanggang ngayon 2020 hindj ko parin napapasyalan dati namin bahay sa PILI San marcelino zambalez kami dati

My mother was 8 years old during this, nagkahiwahiwalay daw sila nina lola at ng mga kapatid nya, dahil inopen na daw ung mga dam ng tubig. Moments later she was drowning na, luckily someone saved her, he grabbed my mothers hair and pulled her up just to save my mother. Kwinento to ni mommy ko kahapon, it was its 32th anniv. Lumindol pa kahapon non. I am very much thankful to that person and his family for saving my mother kasi if it wasn’t for you I would’ve never existed. You are a hero forever in our hearts, i hope you see this. We would love to return the favor :) in some way we can. My mothers nickname is Lars.

I was still in my moms womb when this happened. They all told me it was like the end of the world.

June 1991. I was just 10 months months old when this eruption happened. My mom told me this was the worst one as the ashfall reach the whole world that Mount Pinatubo became world's most popular volcano.

I was 5 years old when this eruption happened. Saw the huge smoke from mt pinatubo in broad daylight and in the afternoon horizon turned very dark followed by ashes starts falling from the sky with volcanic rocks creating loud and disturbing noise from the roofs of every houses. Followed by earthquakes, and I heard people and children crying praying and terrified. No electricity, nowhere to go and no idea what will happen tomorrow. Luckily a group of families took us in Nueva Ecija where some good and caring born again christians fed us and offered their small church for couple of days for us to stay.

Facts: Lahar ng Mt. Pinatubo ang ginamit sa Pagtayo ng New Clark City Athletic Stadium. Trahedya man ang gulot noon, naging malaking tulong naman siya ngayon sa nagdaang 2019 SEA Games.

Here in Mindanao, we always pray that Mount Apo will not wake up. It’s the highest volcano (a stratovolcano) in the Philippines. It is considered as active volcano and it might be the most dangerous eruption in history if ever the mt apo will erupt. They always tell that taal or pinatubo is the deadliest but they don’t really know that mt apo is still active.

I was in grade school when this happened. I remember, we were asked by our school to donate food and clothings which were periodically sent to victims and the homeless. Our newly-renovated house back then in Quezon City, Metro Manila was filled with "white" ashes falling from cloudy dark skies.

I remember this. I was 7 turning 8 yo, I was outside playing in front of my house. I looked up and saw what I thought was smoke going straight up. I was later told a volcano erupted. About a day or two later, our roof, and entire neighborhood was full of ash!

Sinoba makakalimot nito, sumisilip pako sa butas ng bintana namin kasi bawal kami lumabas, my father and uncle need to brush out the ash from our roof baka mag collapse yung bahay namin, we ended up leaving our home kasi my mom was pregnant pa on our bunso. The pinatubo eruption was my unforgettable memory.
