Ever wonder how a radio, TV, cell phone, etc. can pick 1 channel out of an almost infinite number of frequencies? From crystal radio to 4G digital phones, selectivity is key.
MATERIALS
- Frequency generator
- Oscilloscope (cheap USB works)
- Inductor
- Capacitor
TECHNICAL NOTES
- I did not use the ground from the frequency generator, just the positive output. "Full power" over drives things and makes it hard to see the transitions.

So if I want to listen to a frequency of, lets say 560kHz, I would tune the capacitor to a resonant frequency of 560kHz? Thanks

no secondary circuit without capacitor resonance

All components have RCL (resistance, capacitance and inductance). That includes even a piece of straight wire. A coil of wire has RCL, and the C is greater in a coil than a straight piece. also the piezoelectric earphone has a significant amount of C.
