A year ago, having just bought Twitter, Elon Musk walked into its HQ carrying a sink.
"Let that sink in" he quipped - then fired a large swathe of staff.
It was the first flavour of what has been a 12-month whirlwind of erratic change - not least the renaming of the company to X.
In some ways, X has been remarkably resilient. Despite rivals old and new circling, it survives.

I highly appreciate Elon for eliminating those who had been manipulating "Trending" and "What's Happening" based on their ideology. In the first place, X itself is a platform, not a medium that expresses its opinions on various topics. Community Notes aren't timely dealing with too many dis/misinformation, but it should be up to the users' literacy to judge the posts as much as possible. The platform shouldn't delete or shadow ban the posts/accounts other than bots or apparent criminals. It's good if organizations like BBC, which is given special status by UK government, could be helpful on the platform X though.

Google did it best. They created a new company to control all of their assets called Alphabet, but continued to allow/encourage everyone to still use the old (read: real) brand names for the actual products and services, like Google, Android, and even Nest and Fitbit. Lots of people failing to see the big picture here. Elon Musk is playing a long game. He doesn't need to make lots of money in the short-term and will almost certainly return it to profitability in the future. He has acquired a strategically useful media channel and taken out a group of unethical, partisan left wing employees who have criticized him in the past. On the whole I don't think he will be too worried and will consider it worthwhile.

He is hilarious, "my dog runs Twitter". I hate that they now call free speech, disinformation. We often find out "disinformation" is the truth they just don't want you to know, then again some of it's looney but free speech means even looney people get to share their thoughts.
