dont underrate UCLA's defensive toughness. The #4 and #5 teams in the country went stone-cold down the stretch in back-to-back games. Gonzaga hasn't had one close game. IF it's close, which is a big if, UCLA could have the edge down the stretch.

Yes. 14 turnovers by Michigan due to UCLA's good defense. Michigan players got physically banged up that is they could not make FTs and open shots. In the last 5 minutes, they were confused and did not know what to do. UCLA got to Final Four due to grit and good defense and some basket points made by Juzang, Campbell, Riley and Bernard. NO excuses, results.

All season Bilas claimed the Big 10 was best conference. Big 10 had two number 1 seeds, two number 2 seeds, and 9 teams in tournament total and still only had 1 team in Sweet 16 and 0 in Final Four. Big 10 is always overrated.

I agree. They ran a lot of pin downs for Juzang but I feel they need to put Jaime on the low block more to get him going and maybe throw in some back screens to get cutters towards the basket. I also thought they could have pushed the pace more in transition to take advantage of Michigan’s slow bigs. But I’m no coach, I trust Cronin to make the right decisions and adjustments next game

@@davidaka7059 No yeah I get what you’re saying. But I don’t necessarily mean shoot early, I mean like just push the pace a little in transition and get into the offensive sets before the defense can set up. Helps get some low post positioning for Jaime or hopefully a few mismatches. Good win none the less.

I think the offense not showing up vs Michigan was a combo of Michigan playing really good defense, and Jacquez and Bernard not being able to hit anything. I wish we gave more minutes to Singleton, he might have provided a spark. But it wasn't really a coaching thing, it was an execution issue

Keep telling yourself that. UCLA had 9 fouls against only 4 for Michigan down the stretch until Michigan was forced into intentional foul mode at the end. 14 fouls for the game called on UCLA and 11 on Michigan. Michigan turnovers, 14. UCLA, 8. So what exactly didn't go Michigan's way other than the quality of their play?

College Basketball is so hard to watch. Who cares about amateurism and love of the game when the product is so hard to watch. The 30 second shot clock is terribly long. The reset after an offensive rebound is also long. 2 halfs instead of 4 quarters is also terrible. If you get in foul trouble early you are in the bonus for a whole half instead of a qtr. You can't advance the ball with timeouts. The 3 pt line is so close that the lane is basically clogged. The court is small because the 3 is too short. The NBA line is over 23 ft, the FIBA line is 21 ft, and the college line is just over 19 ft. This wasn't a defensive masterpiece. It was a lot of bad basketball. Just my opinions. It is justified for people not to agree.

@@Phatal001 -- I am only talking about the quality of the on-court product. My opinion doesn't include the business and management of players. Even bad teams in the NBA are exciting to watch. The brand of basketball is exciting. The execution is exciting. There are rarely possession of a team just pounding the ball and swinging the ball around the perimeter 20 seconds at a time before getting into the offense. The game isn't over micromanaged by coaches. I won't completely bad mouth the college product. I can watch teams with good playstyles. I can watch Gonzaga games. Villanova is my favorite team because I grew up in Jersey but also because they put 5 players on the court that can pass/shoot/ and dribble. They execute and don't just let the shot clock reach single digits every possession to shorten an already short game.
@49erLA

@@semi6544 College basketball rules help out the average to weaker players. That's why a lot of these record breaking players (Gonzaga) hardly ever do sht in the NBA. They are just great college players and it ends there. Like these dudes on Gonzaga been in system for a couple years playing teams with freshman leaders. More experience can win. But those freshman ball out in the NBA and those 3 year college players disappear. Draft these Gonzaga players in the lottery if you want too they will all be bust except one there gaurd. But those other dudes are just great college players and thats it. Also don't forget a ton of talent opted not to play this season
@semi6544
@semi6544 3 жыл бұрын
@@49erLA -- The opposite is also true. The game restricts player ability. We get to see skills we didn't know players had once they are in the NBA almost immediately. Just at Kentucky alone the abilities of Devin Booker, Karl Anthony Towns, Anthony Davis were so muted. Davis appeared to be a defensive-minded athlete. Karl Anthony Towns just appeared to be a post player. Devin Booker was just a random spot-up shooter. I don't know why players from Gonzaga haven't succeeded but players from Villanova have succeeded and they are just a small school in Philly with way under 10k students. I was only referring to Gonzaga in saying some college teams don't play that awful micromanaged boring playstyle burning almost 30 seconds per possession.
