Ashlynn Shade might be the most prepared recruit ever to go to UConn. See how she is focused on becoming a professional basketball and how UConn is the first step.

And as it's turned out, Ashlynn is one of the starting 5 on the UCONN Huskies team. She deserves this and Geno knows he has something amazing in her. We are so lucky here in CT with all the new players we got this year!

Well your take was prophetic, Shade just got her fourth freshman of the week of the Big East this week. She is so smooth; like silk.

When I first saw her play I thought ..I like her, her style, her discipline, her IQ, her maturity, her talent, and her attitude all belong at Uconn. I also thought she reminded me of Shea Ralph .. my all time favorite player to play the game …very excited to watch her thrive and flourish

She's amazing! It's great to have her here at UCONN! She is so skilled and so disciplined and she always has a terrific smile. I like how involved her parents are with her life.

Great job. I have heard several people talking about how Ashlynn is going to be a surprise freshman at UCONN, but this is the first time anyone has spelled out why that will be the case. Interesting point about the midrange game -- it's definitely something that has become overlooked at every level of the game. Paige is one of the few big scorers with a great midrange -- she does all kinds of things to get herself clean looks at 15 - 18 and she knocks them down at a very high rate. Very few guards have that skill in today's game.

Her shots have GORGEOUS rotation, she's got a pretty shot. I think she'll do great! Look forward to seeing the next season with Uconn with Paige returning and the new additions. I played in from middle school/high school and junior college and miss basketball so much, guess I gotta live vicariously through others since my competitive hoop days are over

I wholeheartedly DISAGREE. Nothing in your comment deserves merit or regard.

She’s an all around good player! She says her mid-range is her bread and butter. We shall see! Great freshman class!

Great work on analysis of Ashlynn's budding basketball career and the person too. I'm looking forward to seeing her at UCONN next season. Let's keep our fingers crossed on the injury front:)

Very good profile. I’m glad to hear that her father is not some lunatic sports father.

UConn always seems to recruit young women with character.

she will 100% be the most impactful freshman, if not the 2nd player off the bench this year. She's mature, athletic and has high basketball IQ. She's also relatively versatile and can play 1-3. Lastly - she can score. With Jana out for the year, UConn will run a smaller lineup this season. That will benefit her playing time. Look forward to watching her play!

I did not mention the team she played on and did not like as a 7 year old was on the team that her twin brother was on. She is very close with her brother calling him her best friend. He plays baseball.

Considering that most all of the players, especially the guards will be healthy. This will allow Geno to play his'Normal game' by putting pressure on the opposing players especially the guards. This will allow both KK and Ashley to play more minutes which allows Geno to rest his best players when needed. She definitely will see a lot of playing time....Go huskies.

I don’t believe shade will play at all this season. It is an extremely important year for her though. She is the UConn system and will have the opportunity to learn. Next year, two guard spots open up with Paige and Nika leaving. Shade I am sure wants to take one. Ziebell and Cheli are coming in. The competition will be fierce.
@paulc875210 ай бұрын
TOTALLY disagree - see my comment above. She's the 2nd player off the bench before year's end.
@TheDisruptiveOne10 ай бұрын
Nope, you are wrong.

Paige can return next year if she wants to, and think she will if they don't win it all this year. Next year they will Jana El Alfy back and that will be a big boost.

I wouldn't be so sure, UConn is full of surprises. Look at the match against SC a few months ago; 60 points sitting on the bench, GA who loses his temper in the last minute and takes a technical foul, one of the worst refereeing ever seen, yet, despite this, SC was not sure of the victory until the end. But in my view, LSU's biggest problem won't be the other teams, but finding space for all the ego they've mustered.
