General Robert Spalding has served in senior positions of strategy and diplomacy within the Defense and State Departments for more than 26 years, retiring as a brigadier general. He was the chief architect for the widely praised 2017 National Security Strategy and the Senior Director for Strategy to the President at the National Security Council. General Spalding’s innovation while serving in the White House has led to a reset in national security and public policy regarding telecommunications in the US as well as globally. He is the CEO and co-founder of SEMPRE, the continuation of his vision for secure digital infrastructure created while at the NSC. He is also the author of both Stealth War: How China Took Over While America’s Elite Slept and War Without Rules: China's Playbook for Global Domination.

My feed gave me Pt. 2 first, and during the first few minutes of this one I was reviewing material from Pt. 2. I advise anyone who got that one to be sure to view this one as well. The review actually brought to mind things that I didn't note before. First, China and Russia have been cooperating in undermining the current global system. They had probably discussed the Hong Kong attack before it happened, and noted the absence of strong international pushback. They also noted the lack of severe consequences for Russia's attack on Georgia, the Crimea and the Donbas. I suspect that both regimes were surprised at both the Ukrainian defense and the robust reaction of the US and EU, and especially by the Swedes and Fins joining and strengthening NATO. Then, President Biden's policies have been far more vigorous than anyone expected. This has revitalized the Atlantic Alliance and NATO. Also, our allies in the Asia-Pacific have been reassured of our support for them, and have been supporting Ukraine with military and humanitarian aid. The Chinese, as the General remarked, are very capable. I tend to agree with Peter Zeihan that these things have been a great shock to the Chinese regime. The sanctions on Russia, as PZ noted, would be much more severe if placed on China; it would be very foolish of them to risk attacking Taiwan, so they need to reconsider their Taiwan plans. They may have realized that the Rabid Wolf behavior is counter productive and may be dialing it back [for now]. Both South Korea and Japan are building up their militaries, both are helping Ukraine, bothe consider China hostile and both them and other states like Vietnam will cooperate against China. One of problems of The Middle Kingdom [the Chinese name for themselves] is similar to the problem of the Russian ruling circle. Both see themselves as the future world hegemon, able to do anything to achieve dominance. This attitude has been explained well in this video, war without restraint, commerce without rules, no need to consider human rights or favor democracy. This video gets a lot more into the problems and challenges facing the US. Thanks for another really excellent video. Keep up the good work,

It would be in the US's interest if there was a dramatic reduction of US investment in China.
