He was the leader of the RF from 2000 - 2008, then Dmitry Medvedev took office from 2008 - 2012 while Putin took the place of Prime Minister again to comply with the constitution of Russia. (Only acting as President for two consecutive terms) Then he was re-elected in a controversial election in 2012 after Dmitry stepped down as party leader. Reinstating Putin as President of the RF once again, 2012 - Current.
