I was praying in my prayer closet when I began to hear what sounded like a choir singing and the only words I could make out was In Christ Alone. I lay crying and humming along with this choir. Today as I was making my bed I remembered my experience and looked up on my computer In Christ Alone. I was in tears. I could not believe there was really such a song. The whole song is amazing. The words were exactly what my soul desired to sing to my Savior. And to think it was the angels that first introduced to me this song. I never cease to be amazed at the power and infinity of an Almighty God. So Mr Stuart Townend and Mr Keith Getty please know this, your song was divinely given and divinely sung by the angels and rings through out the heavens.

The last stanza makes me cry . Before Christ in my life I'm sad to live this life and afraid to die. But in Christ I've no guilt to live I'm not afraid of death . This song tells about life of Jesus. I love this song .

@@ifeoluwapraise_ If you read what Paul wrote to the Galatians you will find that he says they believe in another gospel and another Jesus. As far as I view it people who sing Getty and Townend believe in another Jesus. He is tortured because an angry God cannot look on sin and whose wrath is abated by death and blood. He comes down from Heaven as a helpless babe and this Christ of theirs is the sole focus of belief. There is no mention of either the Holy Spirit or the Church in an attempt to rewrite the Creed I do not profess belief in their Christ alone and I am not alone in hating virtually every line of this mistaken hymn.

Believe it or not, they’re singing this song in Roman Catholic churches now too. This surprised me big time when I found it out. Here’s to hoping it will plant many seeds that will one day bloom and blossom in a glorious result to the Glory of God. May it not fall on rocky soil, and may not the birds of the air steal away this seed-that Christ alone is Savior, Redeemer, and Deliverer of our souls.

I heard "in Christ Alone" sometime in 2005. I was about to be re-licenced as Lay reader in Hereford (UK) Diocese, and found that it expressed what my faith is and on whom my heart is fixed on the Rock of my salvation. My thanks to you, for me it will go before me, Christ is my All.

Just found this wonderful interview. I absolutely love the old hymns and don’t like most contemporary songs. But IN CHRIST ALONE is now my all time favorite modern hymn! I am going to memorize it, and we are going to sing it this next Sunday, too. It has the full gospel message AND the most beautiful melody. You just don’t get that nowadays. Thank you so much for your ministry and please keep going. Take our grateful thanks with you!!! Jesus is blessed by your music. I KNOW IT! There is a deep revelation of the love, life and victory of Christ at the cross of Calvary. This is a kind of song that always brings you face to face with the Lord each you listen to it or sing it. I agree that both lyrics and melody are important in good church music. I think the reason music directors look at the lyrics first, though, is because it must match the week's message. That is the reason to choose one good song over another equally good one in any given week.

YES! give me 90 people and an incompetent keyboard player who love Jesus rather than a #1 hit. Problem is: people feel worrying for the church is either: not big enough (they'll like it anyway), we just got to win the lost, or its all about my feelings and emotions without resolving like job and David did all through the scriptures its about Christ!

I have sung this song at three family funerals and sung by all present in a real triumphant way because we all knew where our relatives had gone, home to Jesus.
