Found out about you from a similar video you made a while back. Appreciate you sharing your personal experiences as a top tekken player. Much respect, and God bless. 🙏🏾

People suddenly changing attitudes is shady and wack. I couldn't ever get too involved with that hectic schedule and phony people. FGC was always about being a small, passionate community. The corporate stuff is gonna cause an implosion eventually.

I can only speak from a perspective of only dominating my locals. the anxiety and need to succeed because you need that pay is crazy as well. I went to my first big tournament this year at texas showdown and i was struggling to speak after matches.

Honestly, it's always been about networking and who you know. Still is. Not just in Tekken, not just in the FGC. In any industry. I work a corporate job and it's the same deal. Getting a good gig is mostly political. More about having connections with the right people than being good at what you do.

It shouldn't be that way in competitive sports though. That's the problem with the FGC, especially Tekken. and that's why they're not growing like they should.

@@Megadeus0 It shouldn't be that way in any category. It should all be merit based, whether it's in gaming, sports or otherwise. But it's not and never will be. Because it's human nature, we can't be objective.

@@alanlegend6751Yes and no. In sports/ent, your player performance is your bottom line. They are your product. You're not selling textiles, you're selling hype moments. It's one of the few industries where you WANT to discover the best talent possible for your league to grow. The best leagues have the best scouts. Always been that way.

When there's money, then there's systematic/human corruption, and when the price is big, the grind goes big also. From what you been saying, FGC is no different than any other big mainstream moneymaking industries, be it FGC, Sports, content creation, heck even education (people do mad shit for getting a university scholarship, you know :) ) thanks for the heads-up

I never made it to the level that you did, but I had a similar experience. I had become the best in my area, and so I went into struggle mode trying to get to these majors. It was never worth it, and most of the people are exactly as you described. Unless you are a part of the less than 1% of high level players who make money playing, you might as well do something else.

Thanks for the insights, there is not a lot of people that can give those as a former pro that really placed well, and cool to hear that europe was treating you well, I feel that’s some NA shit that everybody is just so arrogant and greedy but what do I know

Bro thank you for your honesty Made me quit fgc, honestly its a complete bum show So many legacy pros like you are mistreated and the prize pool sucks Then when you throw in the fact this regarded group of people pushed DSP and LTG more than pros, its just not worth being involved. I recommend you play elden ring or something, go variety. No point staying niche if this is the slice of the pie you are getting.
