How Waterproof Casio G-Shock really is? Deep Sea Test

Күн бұрын

How deep can you really dive with a Casio G-Shock digital watch? We are going to use our deep sea / pressure chamber and test Casio G-shock watch for it's maximum depth / pressure! Our deep sea chamber goes all the way to 300 bars that equals 3 kilometers or 2 miles of depth so we can simulate conditions on bottom of the ocean in this experiment.

I remember a TV show or something that tested one long time ago, they even bbqed the watch, the plastic melted and the display cut out as long as it was on the BBQ, but as soon as it was removed it worked flawlessly. Impressive watches! Had one of those with 10 year battery and it did hold out for at least 8 years which is impressive as I used the backlight quite a lot. The only thing bad was the backlight button as it was just a thin bit of metal which broke of. I took it apart but didn't get the gasket on as it was supposed to go on so it wasn't water proof any more. Showered and had it under water, could see water droplets inside but still worked even with the water inside it. But it got condensation on the inside of the glass easily so a bought a new watch of the same watch again 👍

They earned their name decades ago and kept it. This test literately has ZERO practical use... as the watch can withstand more pressure than any human, even in a reinforced diving suit... So unless you drop the watch in the Mariana trench and plan to magically defy physics and get it... this video is just for fun (unless it breaks at human diver depths... which i don't need to see the video to know it will survive). They can survive hammer hits, being run over, repeatedly smashed on a brick wall... and this is just my personnel experience.

The problem is that your pressure chamber does not tell us when the watch is no longer sealed so that water can come in. The watch can still work if it is unsealed under pressure as long as it is not flooded with water.

Great test! The best I've found on the internet so far. Suggestion to maybe try compressing and decompressing in smaller steps next time? Maybe it wouldn't break that easily even at 2km? When you relieved the pressure it literally exploded inside. Again, fantastic test! I love Casio even more now. :)

3 decades ago... Casio was known for being cheap... now... they are known for being cheap and reliable. In my life I have had MANY watches, some very expensive... I still have my first watch... not because of sentimental value... but just because it still works... it's a £1 digital Casio i got from a sweet machine. After a few years of usage... a quick change of battery and the occasional replacement strap and it works fine everytime... Granted it's only rated as water resistant... many times did i take it snorkelling and it came out fine. If you want a good watch.... don't buy a Rolex, Timex, Fossil or a aviator... buy a Casio. If you want a awesome robust watch... Buy a Casio G-Shock. I don't like advertising... but somethings you just cant deny.

Honestly after owning a shock, I wouldn't even trust them in the rain dude, things leak like crazy, maybe some of the older models (like the one tested) were actually reliable, but the modern ones are just junk.
@babalonkie
@babalonkie 3 жыл бұрын
@@cmdrflint9115 Yeah i will still get a shock... Fossils and Timex's are the worst watches i have ever experienced that break or scratch when you simply drop on a carpet... but i only will get a Casio made in Japan. I have not seen a broken or leaking G-Shock in the double digits i have seen with my own eyes. Also, something don't add up about your statement... "Leak like crazy"... well they are digital... meaning they "leak" once they will burn out and be unrecoverable... there wont be a second leak... or a repair job. Or are you talking about water going under the hard plastic on screen!? Because that is a temporary protector that 90% of buyers forget to take off. It leaves water lines and sometimes bubbles without the protector coming off... which is something i have seen many times and the owner never even realised there was a hard plastic disposable protector on the front.

@@babalonkie it was a GA-110 model I picked up as a work beater (brand new from Argos in the UK) had worn it for just a week, with some hand washing and one walk in the rain, now the display will fog up when in cold environments to the point where the time is unreadable, pretty poor for a watch claiming 200m water resistance, even though yes, it still technically works. I'll never buy Casio again, especially since it was purchased as a replacent for my 20+yr old battered to hell Suunto which only has a 30m rating and has never leaked or let me down.
@babalonkie

@@cmdrflint9115 Read the back... If you bought it from Argos (Now the worst retailer in the UK for any goods)... it will say these words "Made in China". A real Casio is Made in Japan. (China makes 20% of their goods now). If i want something to last... it wont be coming out of that country.

@@babalonkie it says Japan movement cased in Thailand on the caseback. +If the ones made outside of Japan (like mine) are such significantly lower quality, then Casio are really devaluing the brand by selling them as GShocks, maybe they should have sold them as GLite or something. ++Yeah, I know Argos is crap, but that shouldn't have a bearing on a branded product purchased from them.
