Teacher Kimberly, you are such a selfless, wonderful human being. When you said ‘I don’t think my student are not normal’, that brought me to tears because by not having a judging or biases mindset, you are able to educate the child fully and make them whole too. For the sake of proper information, I would just like to share that there are far more children who are non verbal (70%) compared to these verbal children (30%) in special schools. I don't want people to go away thinking (after watching this video) that they are typical SPED school children. They are pretty high functional actually. How do I know? I am parent of such a child.

Jubilee did one called "Do All Autistic People Think The Same?" where they had a couple of autistic adults who were non-verbal in it, who also made their opinions and viewpoints known. Also interesting that you used verbal vs non-verbal at first then switched to the high functioning/low functioning dichotomy, which are pretty archaic terms that much of the medical field is doing way with.

@@beezlebub9 Some non-verbal children eventually start to speak and some dont. Jason Arday a UK man who was unable to speak until the age of 11 and only learned to read and write at 18 eventually became a professor at Cambridge.

This is such an eye-opener to let the general public know about kids with special needs. Don't be too quick to judge them. I am sure that they have their strengths as well. Moral support from family and friends are crucial to spur them on.

It was my wish and hope that people will be more aware, accepting and believing that these kids can go far beyond what we expect. That is why it is equally important too, to teach normal children about empathy, to have compassion, kindness n to understand these special needs children. More importantly, to normalize Special needs children’s needs so tat our fast pace society can accept them readily without prejudice n they can grow up safely surrounded by kindness and acceptance. We still have a long way more to go but I believe it can happen.

Im pregnant myself. Looking at fateha’s mum blaming her own for not taking care enough during pregnancy break my heart so much. My tears just cant stop flowing. I often do think i do not take care of my food intake etc well also since i am still feeling nausea at this stage of 22 weeks. Sometimes we want to take care of our food intake but circumstances dont allow us to. So please dont blame urself anymore. Hope you see this ♥️ Btw i like yong le’s teacher statement. There are challenges in the mainstream school children too. all these kids are not special, just different challenges and different way of managing. ❤

Kudos to the parents and teachers at rainbow center. The expectations of these kids is just for them to take care of themselves and be happy. Sometimes it’s a reminder to find contentment in the simplest things in life. And expectations of our kids.

As someone who is special needs, these parents and teachers are great and caring. We have feelings the same as everyone, we only need accomodations and love and we can succeed. ❤

I’m a teacher, teaching children with special needs. It’s not an easy job but seeing how the children progress and grow, its really very meaningful. ❤ All children are smart regardless whether they have special needs or not ❤

I am a pretty functional person although I do have OCD and I manage it pretty well although I get moments where I feel like the world is crumbling down like when someone steps on my carpet and it's so frustrating how that person doesn't seem to understand all the self ritual behaviors I do to keep that carpet clean then they just go and ruin it by stepping on it with their feet where I don't know where their feet has been. They don't care and think im crazy which makes me feel even worse. I can't imagine how it must feel for these kids, we need to all be understanding of one another

I believe many siblings feel that way. Ignore naysayers who are always saying it's unfair to let siblings takeover the burden of caring for a SN person. First of all, they are not a burden. Secondly, they are family and we don't abandon our family. May God ease your journey and bless you in multiple folds!

My partner’s sister also has CP with moderate mental impairment, Fateha is definitely more functional than her and I’m glad that she is, please take care and if she has a brain shunt, I hope that when it eventually malfunctions, Fatima will not blame herself because the brain shunt’s aren’t meant to last forever and will require change from time to time my partner’s sister might have a disability but she’s ones of the sweetest person I know. I hope the parents of these special needs individuals realise how strong they are and I hope people take the time to understand these individuals as regular people and not judge them based on their disability. On a side note, Miguel is adorable

Met Yong Le when I was at Rainbow Centre before, he is very mature and knowledgeable for his age. He has grown a lot over the years and I am so proud that he is being featured here! He has gone through a lot in life and he deserves so much love and care. Wishing you all the best Yong Le!

I taught for some time in a special needs school and it hit me pretty hard. Every day I would ask God why He'd put these kids amongst us. Eventually after a long period of questioning, His answer to me was so that we can learn to love. Loving a physically attractive, highly intelligent kid is easy but a deeper love is love for these children that most of society pretends are invisible or even outright rejects. The caretakers are really heroes without capes, much stronger than the average parent or teacher. Much appreciation to the OGS team for putting out such heartfelt content!

I'm glad to see kids like this existing here in our world. Even though it might be difficult for them to express themselves at times, they are all able to show how kind they are in this short interview in different ways. Kind people are who this world needs. You can see how hard they have worked from their behaviour and the pride on the adults' faces. I hope they are proud of themselves too and continue to grow and experience happiness. Lovely kids. I would like to see the hundred of kids who go to the rainbow centre who are non verbal and don’t have a voice. The centre should be inclusive and include all including the so called low functioning. Don’t give up hope parents of non verbal children and young adults

I was fortunate enough to be in the special needs sector for 2 years and I just want to say that these kids are so pure, genuine and sweet. They taught me so much in terms of passing judgments, giving people benefit of a doubt and to treat people with kindness. They are all around us in our society, I wish everyone can be a bit less judge mental and unassuming when you meet them. They’ll definitely stand out on the train, but hold your judgements, they’re won’t harm you, they have a right to be included in the environment like us.

As a mom with a daughter with a progressive muscle disorder.. you try not to show emotions and be strong because they need it .. but the moment you have to explain to others I find myself breaking down .. I tend to hold back and use running long distances to be able to control it .. stay strong momma’s ❤

Mommy Sabrinam, you don't need to feel that you have to explain yourself to others. Just be yourself and do what you think is right and true. No one have the authority to judge for it. Be strong and be happy, your daughter will also embrace and adapt that positivity from you. Hugs and cheer up. You already ade a huge impact on your child. Keep up the good work. You must also take time to rest and take care of yourself. 😊

I worked at a group home once for adults with disabilities and it is one of the most challenging jobs I have ever had. But it was also very rewarding.

Every mother wants a healthy child because parents wants the best for their children but no matter what they still will love their children regardless it’s unconditional love, and they are sad because they worry about the future of their kids from school to college , jobs and marriage ,but there are a lot of support today for people of special needs.

As someone who does home care for those with a disability, whether acquired or born, it is hard on the family. If for whatever reason a carer cant come in, they have to cancel their plans (work or play) as they cant be alone. It takes a lot of work and they do get burnout.

12:06 One thing I would like to point out. It is true that girls with special needs have been taken advantage of. I really pity them. Parents must do whatever they can to protect their daughters at all costs especially the ones with disabilities. After watching this video, it’s amazing to see students with special needs can look at the positive side of life. I, myself, as a person with mild autism find it difficult to think positively despite the circumstances. Thank you for creating this video. I hope I can uplift my spirits while going through hardships myself

I always accuse myself for not being able to help my schizophrenic dad find peace, My mild intellectual impaired mum have progress And my brother Dionisis who has a sattelite in his 23 chromosome improve his iq and mostly eq. I have realised that people around me have been cruel and incosiderate of my family. I was called the daughter of the crazy man and stupid woman. That is why I came To the conclusion that we need a global educational system for life for disabled people, financial support, inclusion in every level of our society and involving social workers who can guide through the system and support. Thank for the vid!
